in bdsm a top is someone who takes the dom role but isnt always a dom, the bottom takes the role of a sub, but isnt always sub..usually used on that scene, for those with non exclusive relationships (not in a D/s fixed dynamic) or by switches (those who do both)

the topping book and the bottoming book for this definition can be found on the internet in PDF for free if this is what you meant and would like some reading material x
