Anyone ever watched a horror movie and felt that a gory death scene was over the top?

I thought that at the end of Alien Resurrection when the Alien Newborn gets sucked out of a tiny window in a very gruesome way. It was pretty over the top especially for an Alien movie and the newborn's screams were pretty unsettling as well.

Watched the trailer for Human Centipede and felt ill

Haven't ventured into actually watching the films themselves

My neighbours invited me in for a film showing - Saw was the film

We didn't approve. And hubby was sent to get an alternative. I think films have gone beyond my limits for representing gore and so am careful with what I watch.

I get what you mean about films going beyond certain limits for representing gore. Horror movies today seem to be more focused on gore and scares than have a decent plot with good character development
