Hi op,the 2 jobs show you stay in a job longterm so i'd say thats a plus.Big up your skills and any achievements you have obtained through work or education,

You can go online and get someone to look over CVs I think.

Good luck

Google is your friend here. There is plenty of CV and job hunting advice online, including CV builders.

Good luck OP

I'd highlight more skills and achievements, particularly transferable skills that can be used in other jobs

Make sure any gaps are filled. Have you been to college/night class/done voluntary work, have you been travelling?

Employers assume gaps mean you've been sitting on your thumb doing nothing. The onus is on getting them interested, if they see you as a doer you're more likely to succeed.

Hope this helps.

It's worth having one but most job applications don't let you attach one and instead ask you to fill out your education, career history and a stupid amount of behavioural competencies instead. Last one I did had 18 of them

Don't use playing COD online as an example of team work. (Yes, people do do that!)

There and to the left a bit

When you say two jobs since leaving college, do you mean two jobs within two different companies or have you had multiple jobs within two companies (i.e. through promotions, internal moves etc)

If the latter, list each role as a separate job in a timeline detailing your specific roles and responsibilities for each.

If not as others have said don't be afraid to pad out each job you've had with specifics.

A good CV should be no more than 2-3 pages and cover not only your work history but also any other relevant experience to the job you're applying for e.g. college courses, voluntary work etc.

Good luck OP

A lot of good advice so far but, CV's are subjective, that is, what suits one HR Manager or recruiter, may not be viewed as favourably by another.

Ideally, a CV should be two pages in length; any longer and recruiters sideline it.

Don't record your age on it.

Keep it simple in style, avoiding fancy script or font styles, avoid using borders, plus don't go for colours or shading.

Start off with a small paragraph, say, up to 3 or 4 lines to highlight yourself and what you've done so far. You have to hook in a recruiter in a matter of seconds, so those first few lines are vital.

With regards to companies offering CV building services, be careful. Some offer the world, but there's usually a charge and these can be horrendously high, even extortionate.

Speak to your local Job Centre for advice. Most will have access to local support providers for this and other services.

I'm going through the job search process right now and even after 40+ years in business, am still learning in job hunting processes.

Thank you. I left college in 1996 and have worked ever since. First job was through an agency. Got sent in for a 4 hour shift to cover someone and the owner watched me for a while, checked my work and offered me a job right away. Got made redundant a few years later as company closed. Started 2nd job on a 2 week contract and have now been here just over 16 years

I'm not sure why you view this as a negative

I have had 3 all ended due to redundancy

All it shows is loyalty dedication and wanting to understand the role/business and develop within it

One hopes that you have progressed since the initial role/involved in forums/training/mentoring/ business reshuffles....

All of these allow you to raise valid points about how you handle things/seek extra involvement etc etc etc

I just didnt think i would have enough to fill half a page let alone 2 pages for a c.v.

I did.progress as in the first job i was running half the warehouse after the first year. Same as my current job. Was made a supervisor within a month and then on to shift manager for 13 years. Got made redundant and a week.latervthey asked me to come back

Keep it to one page.

Tailor it towards the job you want.

List your achievements.

Plenty of good examples on the internet.

I charge for a more comprehensive review, re-write, advice £££.

We all have to make a living.
