l wonder what the general consensus on people with mental disorder?. Quite certain there would be a handful of people with one mental challenge or another on this site. Be it anxiety, depression, narcissistic personality so on...

Being diagnosed with mild traits of Autism and Adhd, l have found it challenging in some areas. I'm extremely thankful for it, and all the focus and obsession tendencies.

Suppose that's what anyone would say, if they have know no other perspective on the world.

What do you think of someone different?

Would you meet them ?

As somebody with similar traits, I'd have no problem with it, but I understand why some people might.

I've become quite good at overcoming mine but it does take some effort which can be exhausting at times, and sometimes the anxiety can come out of nowhere particularly in a crowd which is why we have avoided parties so far. (And yet hand me my guitar, stick me on stage and I'm a completely different person!)

That is very similar to myself, in wide open spaces. Well because l'm on the Autistic spectrum which is reference as being a disorder.

Hi my son has autism he has it mild but there are different levels of autism I Dont see why no one won't meet you just be your self and look them in the eyes when you speak to them good luck and happy fabbing

Your welcome mate try and remember you no your limits . just take your time and only do something you feel comfortable with there's no rush just relax and tell your self everything is going to be OK

I have a theory... autism is increasing throughout the population... this could be improved detection rates... or... a progression of evolution... other living being have evolved more in the body than the mind.. human beings have evolved more in the brain.. if someone has positive effects from autism it can provide a heigtened level of focus and attention to detail and I guess intelligence. ... could this be the brain evolving...

I work with young adults with autism and challenging behaviour it's something no one ever speaks about. Financially mentally and in other ways there are so much help but when it comes to their sexual desires and requirements they are lost and no one to support and guidance.

same here my son is also on the spectrum, that is the Autism Spectrum Disorder (or ASD for short)

I don't view people on the autistic spectrum as being different and have no problems with meeting them.

I tend not to reveal this about me but fuck it - I've been diagnosed with Aspergers and don't struggle with interest or successful meets although I do find some forms of interaction hard but that's more when face to face. And on the forums I can be a bit pedantic or blunt so try to rein it.

I struggle to understand humour at times and unless people are clear as fuck with me, I don't get their subtle flirting. I also think if there's silence, they aren't interested so have cut my nose off a few times.

I just use my coping mechanisms if I find something difficult or don't do it. You'll be ok on here OP.

To be completely honest, if someone felt the need to tell me in advance they had depression, or a narcissistic personality, or being on the autistic spectrum, it probably would put me off a bit. The reason being that if they feel they need to disclose it to someone it seems like that's because it will affect the meet in some way, make things more complicated, and that's not what I'm about.

I'm know I've met people (and enjoyed it) who have had some of these conditions but I didn't know, so it didn't bother me.

I have my own issues - everybody does - but they aren't relevant to meeting people on here so I don't tell them.

Thank you for your personal experience it rings a bell in me. Inspired! That's what l wanted to know, only been on a few meets. They were good, like you however l take things literally and miss social signals.

Cool, l wouldn't say. l don't have a career or anything remotely like that.

respect your honesty, for someone who is challenging to be around it might be stressful instead of sex filled.

I would prefer if I was meeting someone that they were upfront about it, so I could make an informed opinion..

but I am guessing that, even if I wasn't told, I could pick up various behavioural clues anyway as I live with it 24/7 via my son..

My son has pervasive developmental disorder ( Atypical Autism ) He's 25 , married to a beautiful woman ( also autistic ) and have a wonderful young son themselves. He has never let it interfere in his life and although it is clear to all he functions differently he just gets on with it. Its severe in some parts and mild in others. He sees the sky as a spectrum of colours not blue as we do. He likes order in his life. He's just a nice young man. So although i could never understand autism my advice is to live with it , its part of who you are....and never let it interfere in what you want out of life.

It wouldn't put me off meeting them and would really appreciate their honesty.

As mentioned above, everyone has their own issues, yet sometimes honesty isn't the best policy.

It is respectful to mention it upfront but not necessary in my opinion, however if after few meets it seems that it is going somewhere (regular,friendship...), I'd mention it then.

l'm not downing my mother! She does her what she knows., she did continued to smoke during pregancy. l have also been vacinated, who knows! Personally leaning towards smoking as it's nasty.

My personal opinion is we are all on the spectrum in some way shape or form, we all have quirks which if theyre big enough deal breakers...we could say points to autistic attributes. I will always give anyone the time of day having worked with lads and girls with ASD, if anything its people deemed "normal" who are usually the hardest work
