"Get a kodi box and save yourself all that money, just get broadband That's what we have done, not missed having Sky at all" I've done this too.. Just getting used to it and finding what channels are on there etc then I'll be cancelling sky and finding a cheap broadband deal.

"Where I live we never had a choice. Only sky covered this area until recently. The last 2 months virgin have been digging every pavement up outside every street and going round the whole village laying the cables, it's a big deal here, was even a community meeting about it! Will be nice to have a choice and see what introductory offers virgin will give to try and convince a whole village to leave sky and come to them. " Your missing the point...if you had sky surely you could have change to BT. .talk talk...plus net. ..EE and even the post office. Go to topcashback and see who is paying out the most for a 12 month contract...the do the same next year....it's not all about sky and virgin. D

"I looked at kodi boxes over xmas , got list in all the tech speak , saw a few on amazon are they all the same cause the prices varies " Some will be slightly better, for instance I changed from a 1gb of ram to a 2gb...it works slightly quicker but I would not pay more then £30 for a 2gb and £22 for a 1gb. "either switch every other year... or use the prices of one to threaten to go to the other.... i am with sky.... it would be cheaper for the same service on virgin, i ask sky if they will pricematch... they do, job done! to be honest i am probably with sky rather than virgin just for "sky atlantic" now..... if virgin were to ever get that channel i'd probably switch" Jez just get kodi and shop around...with cashback every year I only pay around £8.50 pm month on average for broadband and watch everything that is on Atlantic and films before they hit the cinema. D

And your chosen new provider will give them notice and you keep your landline number. D

"For me it's more down to the quality. If I'm paying for a HD TV, I'd rather watch in HD rather than the awful quality on kodi boxes. And sky has over 85 more channels than virgin's top package including sky Atlantic (I'm not missing game of thrones!) And the box sets are much more recent and updated than Netflix. And the movies are to be fair " But you don't get the latest movies before they even hit the cinema

"Move to sky good prices and there customer service is so much better." I used to work in Sky Customer Services one summer, they are shit shit shit, I mean REALLY shit. They would send letters to people saying "you can have this amazing offer" then they would ring up, and that deal wouldn't be available to them at all. We couldn't access it at all, it wasn't possible to give them that deal. Or people would say "oh yeah, I can give you X Y and Z, but my computer is having problems, I'll make a note, call back and my colleague will sort that for you" but it was complete bollocks, there was no possible way to give them that deal.

"Virgin all the way.... for £50 + you get the best Internet connection and all your equipment are covered. You don't have to pay extra if an engineer need to be visit in case of a device fault. Sky use BT (Openreach) so the maximum speed you'll get is way less than Virgin. Virgin has their own network and cable system. " Incorrect. Apart from in a very small number of places (I think the total number of customers is about 1% of the UK total), every single Communications Provider (CP) uses the Openreach network. The speed you get depends on a number of factors, such as distance from the exchange, any aluminium cables, number of joints, how much bandwidth the CP are willing to pay for, and how many people on your leg are with the same provider.

Nope, sky use their own exchange (svbn) it's just maintained by openreach engineers. Not sure who maintains virgin's fttp exchange though.
