How many couples here go on separate holidays?

No we don't, but wouldn't rule it out in future. I know plenty of couples who do, generally not every holiday but just where their preferences differ or work commitments.

My Great Auntie and her husband always had separate holidays, just because their tastes in holidays were so completely different one would be off to Australia or Canada and the other would be travelling round the holy land.

I'm taking my daughter to Rome and Venice this year. I did suggest her boyfriend came along too but he hates city breaks so he's going to Newquay with his brother in law. Sounds sensible to me.

We have done plenty of times before. My husband can only take holiday in the school holidays so if I have the opportunity to go away another time when it's cheaper and not full of children, I'm all over that And he usually goes away with his friends in the summer because he's off for six weeks and I'm not.

My mum used to go on holiday on her own all the time, leaving my step-dad at home to look after the cats (he was a couch potatoe really).

She went to China, America, Dominican Republic (with me!) and he went to bed and back.

They had an unconventional relationship though, their terms of endearment for each other were Dogs Breath and Shit Face.

It worked.

We've considered it because our ideal holidays are so completely different.

I like to pick a country and just wing it from the point I arrive to when I leave. I've met some fantastic people, had all sorts of weird adventures and slept on a remarkable number of benches.

VB prefers to plan everything to the nth degree. Knowing which train we'll be on on the 8th day going to a certain place, that sort of thing. It did make our month in Japan the best month ever though although it was also our wedding and honeymoon which may have influenced things.

Since the monsters turned up we've compromised and just don't go on holiday at all!

When we sleep apart, we don't sleep properly .... that is a pain for sure. He is going skiing and I am taking the kids to see my mum, so we'll be apart in the school holidays .... I think we'll be too busy to miss each other though.

It is but you can be independent while still not wanting to holiday apart.

I wouldn't want to go on holiday with anyone but Mr N. I've turned down holidays with friends. It isn't a case of missing him (although I would) I just don't want to go away without him.

The dynamic of our relationship is private to us but it works...well.

He is my sole-mate, we been together since our teens and I can't imagin waking up in the morning without him beside me

I wouldnt want to go on seperate holidays to hubby. I would miss him far to much. Our holiday time together is so precious to and to spend it apart would be awful. We have similar tastes on holidays anyway.

I've holidayed separately from OH & / or all the family, not for weeks at a time more like a short break 4 nights away or a weekend away. I try and do this at least twice a year.

I enjoy the independence & experience holidaying with friends can provide.
