So i was watching on news this morning that GP must extend their hours or funding will be cut.

.

Surely this is political farce!? If a GP surgery has finite staffing, they will need *extra* funding for extra hours. Cutting their funding worsens the situation.

.

.

Is the government purposefully destroying the NHS so they can put in private healthcare?

More for less..... It's the way of the world now. It's basically what sports direct were doing... Making people work longer hours for no extra pay, essentially forcing their hourly rate to be reduced. Although a GP's hourly rate probably wouldn't fall under NMW like sports direct did.

My GP surgery is quite a large one with ten+ doctors and a few practice nurses, I also live in a commuter town. They are open every other Saturday and one late night a week with those appointments reserved for patients in full time employment. I think that's pretty good and they also provided daily walk in clinics and are open 8-6 daily.

I do think that those hours are what GP surgeries should be aspiring too but realise that in smaller practices it could never happen

the nhs needs to be removed from the politicians hands its as simple as that.

no it doesn't need to be privatised but it needs to be run by an independent body .

we have a wonderful system that has proven to work being fucked for political gain.

In the old early NHS days, i get the impression doctors ran healthcare (with matrons bossing them, lol) and were the esteemed individuals of society.

Now they are as respected as sports direct staff :-/

I still think politicians have the ulterior motive for privatisation. Jeremy c*nt will be laughing, albeit resigned, on his millions when bupa taken over London NHS...

I think that there's a crisis in our health care system and instead of acknowledging the problem and trying to solve it the powers that be are throwing blame about trying to deflect our focus.

I would love my surgery to open 7 days a week 12 hours a day but I wouldn't expect them to do that with the same number of staff and on the same or smaller budget. That will only result in the same number of people being seen but over a longer time and the end result will be the same.

In short yes they are..

Funding for hospitals is reduced year after year, front line staff is stretched beyond belife and from there it gets worse.

Then the government strip them of funding for not achieving quotas due to lack of funding....therefore showing the nhs doesnt work and sells it off to private company's a bit at a time!!!!

We live in a world where we cannot get water to areas tgat desperately needed it and yet have huge pipelines for oil that covers entitre continents.

We live in a world where the minister to health wrote a book about disassembling the nhs and its his play book!

The world we live in is messed up and the more we as a people let it slide the more they will systematically take it apart bit by bit

Is the NHS like a lot of organisations though , too many Chiefs not enough Indians ? Get rid of some of the fat cats at the top and use that many to bring in more staff who actually add to the NHS.

Went to the GP for test results, asked for prescription painkillers that you can't buy over the counter. Got told i could buy my own less strong painkillers myself.

Did wonder why they were being stingy. I haven't even had any since early 2015 so it's not like i'm always asking for them.

Sorry, that's wrong. The ones i had left went out of date 2015 so it was way before then i asked for some.

The out of date ones still work though so it's all good i suppose.
