Have you got any cloves or ouzo in the house even Pernod will do. Soak a small amount of cotton wool in any of those and put it on the tooth.

I'm the world's worst with toothache, and as others suggested to me last year... get yourself some co codamol 2 tabs at a time, 4 hours apart

Worked wonders for me, nothing else got near the pain.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

What's causing the toothache? If it's sinuses then clear those and put something warm on the side of your face that aches.

If it's a rotten tooth then use the cloves.

May sound odd but having had a lot of work this year have you tried rinsing with a salt and warm water

Central

I'd use an anti-inflammatory medication for likeliest greatest effect and potentially some other types of painkillers, such as codeine and paracetamol, for a cocktail party. It would depend what I had in my bag.

But I focus on multiple pain killing strategies but also aim to find the lowest effective dose. Start low and move up, only when needed.

Oil of cloves is effective. You could potentially use a short term local anaesthetic around the area too, which would numb sensations - needs a trip to obtain.
