Would anyone consider going to Turkey for a holiday? Tenerife prices are ridiculous don't come close to lara Beach in Turkey

Never really fancied Turkey, don't really know why as it does look lovely.

We looked at Tenerife the other day independently booking flights and accommodation came in around £2k for 5 for 2 weeks in the summer holidays. Unless we were going somewhere really remote or specialist we mostly stay away from travel agents.

A world of my own

I was there last July when the riots happened in the capital. There was a feeling of being unsettled but business as usual for most. the resort wee were in was hours away from the trouble. I was in a way relieved to come home but sad that really our fears were more from the media and people back home.

I would have no hesitation going back to Turkey.

Turkey is a lovely country! We went last year and I went with a friend the year before. The locals are so nice and friendly. It's also really cheap! Just be sure to go to very touristy places as I think they're safest. We went to Ichmeler near Marmaris and have also been to somewhere near Dalaman - can't remember the name!

It was self catering, and the apartments were basic, but that's all we are looking for when we are away. Think flights were just over £1000 and accomodation around £850. It was away from the main resorts but it's our favourite bit of the island

Went to turkey in October. For me, never again. I personally did not like the country, people or the fake capital of the world tack being sold there.

We have been many times, the latest being last year during the coup. We were in Ozdere and didn't come across any signs of unease.

Ozdere is very quiet and beautiful. I highly recommend Paloma Club sultan and take at least one trip to Kusadasi. There are many amazing sights to see near by including ruins at Ephesus and hot springs at Pammukale.

Plenty of boat trips and a water park too.

We have been to other areas of Turkey too but this is our favourite.

Turkey has never appealed to me, I've never even looked at prices. When the kids came with us we always went to the Greek islands.

Now there are only two of us I prefer to go long haul for the same price we paid for the Greek islands. Package holidays are expensive I think, my recent holiday to Hong Kong wasn't as expensive as many all inclusive Mediterranean holidays.

Altinkum-Turkey

Turkey is not a problem of France, Belgium, Egypt, Tunisia and Thailand, it is an international problem. It is only an international problem. It is not a problem unique to Turkey and I would like to express it sincerely that the problem of me, you, the others and all of us is the problem of all. Terrorism illness can always be antagonistic in every part of the world and therefore the slightest suspicion and question in the minds of tourists going to Turkey There's no need to be a sign. The purpose of terrorists is to prevent people from living, traveling and acting freely. That is why we should never let the terrorists easily win. The easiest way to defeat terrorists is to continue traveling to Turkey.

It is a lovely country, you are guaranteed good weather, is relatively cheap to get to and the food/drink once you are there is reasonable too. The people are generally very friendly, sometimes to the point of being over-friendly (especially to women, I think for a lot of women the attention they get is part of the attraction).

I have been twice and would go back.

I used to go twice a year.

Went last June to Antalya area. Tourism was down 70%.

Poorer food choices, no staff, limited entertainment. People desperate for customers outside.

And I went 5*.

Haven't been back.

We have been to Turkey over 20 times, albeit not for a couple of years. We have booked for March to the Lara Beach area. Not in the slightest worried about about the current issues going on,this is just not only Turkey. Australia.Thailand,France.UK etc.

I went many years ago when I was 20, the guys there were really creepy, you actually felt weary to go anywhere alone, I'd never go back, I got the impression that a hell of a lot of Turkish men just say female holiday makers as easy sex and they was no afraid to approach you for it

Traffic land

I went to Olu Deniz last year as a single parent with two kids and felt perfectly safe.

I don't think a lot of people either understand what is actually going on there or that Turkey is a huge country and that the major tourist areas in the South West are 100s of km from either the trouble in the north or at the border with Syria in the east

There is terrorism in every country. Have you crossed the UK, Spain, France, Germany, Belgium, Australia, Canada and the US off your list of holiday destinations too?

The same kind of story for me. I was back and then it all kicked off two days later.

It is a big country and the trouble was nowhere near where I was.

I would definitely consider going back.

My ex is taking our boys to Turkey in July - he took them 2 years ago.

We're off to Tenerife in August but flying from Edinburgh - it's £1700 cheaper than from Birmingham or East Mids as Scottish kids are back at school when we go

Turkey is beautiful, lots to do and the people are really friendly. We have been there 7 times and also got married there.

Have a look at Hisaronu or Olu Deniz. Hisaronu is full of bars, clubs and restaurants (beach is a dolumus ride away 5 mins costs around £1), Olu Deniz is a little quieter but this is where the beach is. Plus the Turkish Lira is around 4.51 at the moment so that's amazing, we have only ever got 3.65 TL.

If you need any help drop us a message.

I loved going to Turkey till ill health stopped me travelling abroad. The only thing I didn't like abour Bodrum it was climbing that damn steep hill in 40 degrees heat to catch (what do you call then) van to go elsewhere.Take plenty of English money with you (only notes)as the Turks love it.You get a better rate off them.

We went to Royal Wings resort, large beach 2 years ago it's a lovely place to go. Big hotels. No need to leave resort.

We went to belek last year. Wouldn't consider ruling out Turkey because of terrorists, unfortunately they seem to get everywhere.

We've been Brussels, Tunisia, France and Egypt in the past few years and all have been attacked.

I think you shouldn't avoid places like this, but obviously be vigilant, otherwise these people win. I travel the London underground quite frequently and whilst I think about terrorist activity, it wouldn't stop me! Enjoy your holidays, wherever you go!

Islington London

Go to East and South for beach and sea. Go Kütahya, Usak for natural thermals -very cheap- and middle Anatolia and east for sightseeing ie. Nevsehir - Mardin, Urfa. And of course Istanbul for at least one week!

Been there many times. Always something to discover and definitely affordable, especially nowadays the currency is in favour of GBP!
