This is my first post so be nice ??

Does anyone else here have people wink at them, so they've got your attention and you drop them a message, just to be ignored?

I'm not a wink hater at all but why bother? Riles me this. ??

We sometimes wink at people because we like their profile or photos, or various reasons, sometimes I'll send a wink if I've read something they've put on forums I've enjoyed, yet I know we are a million miles off their radar.

It's sometimes used as a proverbial 'hi' when you may not want to enter into messages, we all know the "why don't they message back campaigners "

So sometimes a wink can just be as simple as 'I dropped by, and thought I'd do something to say your profile, attitude etc is nice........

Yeah that makes sense. Suppsoe it isn't necessarily a means to start or want or conversation.

Suppsoe it's because if I was to wink at someone, it's because I want their attention in some way or another but can't start a conversation as easily as others

Yeah maybe. I've never sent one by accident so didn't seen it like that.

They can be pointless but shows you've shown interest in my eyes

Yes I noticed an increase of unintentional winks when the site became mobile friendly...

You can't send them by accident on the mobile site, it gives you a warning "are you sure" message page first. Possibly its those that for whatever reason use the PC version on their mobile devices.??

Yeah the majority of mine seem to be off men, or couples but they usually come across arrogant. ( ones I've encountered anyway)

Whatever it is don't sweat it, some send winks of appreciation of a well written profile? Sometimes if you check them out they don't fit your profile so may just be their way of saying "Hi I know i'm 100 miles away and you want local, but..." Or a myriad of other reasons

I never ever look at my winks - they run into thousand odd before they reset to zero. I pay no attention- if people want me message me.

That said I do wink others. Of they respond that's cool, if they don't nothing lost

I've only ever sent one wink.

I've only ever received one wink.

Both of these statements are intrinsically connected.

Its one thing guys on here need to understand - girls get a LOT of messages. Girls using forums and cams etc get even more.... As a result winks are a blot on the horizon that never really get noticed x

Winks will be used differently by each of us - just as we use the site differently really.

It tends to be a tentative aknowledgement of some interest in the person who has been winked: just as messages don't imply absolute commitment to anything more than the message contents, neither do winks. In fact, winks could be better viewed as light-touch expression at an introductory level.

At any point, even upon actually meeting someone, our view of the other may actually change or our interests may alter too, due to reasons that have nothing to do with the person who's being rejected. We may have other life priorities, a different partner or sexua interest may emerge etc.

A message from someone could also reveal to the recipient that the sender doesn't have the predicted match that they originally expected. Fab's norm is that when we're no longer communicating, it simply means that there's no interest at present. In all likelihood, most people won't be matches for most others - so it would be realistic to assume that most tentative explorations for compatibility won't result in the best ever shags - they probably won't result in any meeting or sex at all. If we accept this, then we'd also expect that most of us would make lots of exploratory attempts at connection and then most of them will fail to deliver a shag.

We could take a lack of completion of each of our initial connections to be indicative that something is wrong. I don't subscribe to that viewpoint - the more experience that we get with others, the easier it is for us to use our aquired experience/wisdom, to improve our success.

In other words, I encourage you to welcome rejection - it just means that you're probably better geared up for improving your Fab experience. Consider adjusting your expectations here, so that it enables your success and contentment.

Wise words, very wise words. Thanks for that. I'll just embrace it as you said and not look to far or little into it. Easier to just accept it as a wink. Nothing more
