Hi all

I'm having my boobs done on Wednesday and I've never had any kind of surgery before so I'm not really sure what to expect. I know I can't lift for 6 weeks and have a week and a half off work, but any tips on how to make the next few weeks as comfortable as possible? I have asked my doctor various questions but am looking for advice from women who have had the experience.

Thanks beauties!xx

I'm hoping to have a breast lift in the summer!

So I'll be following this thread for info!

Are you staying with family, married? Cause they will help you prepare meals or get some ready meals in that you can pop in oven! Put bread and milk in freezer, stock up on cupboard stuff! Medication. I heard you need to wear s support bra, not underworld!

Good luck x

Your surgeon should have given you a list of things that you need to do in the weeks leading up to the surgery. Certain foods you can and can't eat, medication, whether you smoke or not. No asprin to be taken in the days before your surgery, you shouldn't smoke (if you do) should have starting taking arnica tablets 2 weeks leading up to the surgery but not too late to start taking it now and for the weeks after. It brings your bruising out and helps with healing.

Your surgeon would have advised that it's vital not to catch colds or flu because on the day it's the anaesthetist that will come and see you and decide if you're fit for surgery, if you have a cough or a sniffle they won't do it.

You've got your bras in the bigger sizes? I had the ones laced with silver lining in the cups, £55 quid each!

Are you having sub muscular or regular? Behind the chest muscle (like I had) is a longer recovery time and sleeping is an absolute bitch cos you've got to sleep practically upright for a week afterwards.

Have you discussed all your after care and when you'll have your appointments?

Bet you're excited, it's so weird looking down afterwards and seeing the big lumps all bandaged up!

He's given me lots of info like that, not heard of amica tablets though! I shall research! My bra was £35. Thankfully I'm only having subglandular so will be healed faster hopefully. I'm sooooo excited but that means no parties or meets for 6 weeks I know it will be worth it though xx

Can get arnica from boots, start it from today and for the weeks afterwards. Can't even see my scars they're so tiny and faded, you have to lift the boob and really look at them to see the scars, I put that down to the arnica.

They'll give you a load of drugs for the pain afterwards, it wasn't even that painful to be honest just awkward and a bit achey, was the position I had to sleep in that made it worse for me so I had stuff off them to sleep. Didn't drive for a week after the op because I had sub muscular and changing gears or moving my hand to grip things I could feel it in my chest muscles.

I had mine 9 years ago and if I had the money again for one I'd do it in a heartbeat.

A friend of mine had hers done last summer and she loves them. Sounds like you got good advice already from your surgical team. Knowing her recovery all I would add is don't underestimate the not reaching for things angle. I got her settled in at home when she was released following surgery and made sure everything she needed was in reach by pretending to do the robot with my arms; you seriously shouldn't move them too much. Even things like the remote and reaching up to the DVD player above her bed.

When did she start to regain the movement and be able to do things like reach for the remote properly?xx

Why would you do it again? Have they dropped? Or just because you love them so much?x

She felt like she could after a few days but was careful and didn't since her surgeon was pretty strict with her and told her to take it really easy until her post-op a week or so later. Hers were regular not sub muscular if that helps?

When I had mine done I was 24 and weighed 7 and a half stone and was a size 6. Had no breast tissue at all was a double a cup and I could only have a certain size, my surgeon said any bigger and you'd see the implant. He wanted them to look as natural as possible, I just wanted bigger. Now I'm bigger myself plus I've had a child and breast fed, I've got more room to accommodate a bigger size implant.

I want 32E cup boobs!

I've heard that you get used to the size really quick and get boob envy your boobs look so natural though! I love them. Wish mine would turn out like that! I'm going from a 32b to hopefully a d/dd cup xx

Don't be afraid to ask for pain relief!!! I had mine reduced a long time ago. I hope it goes very well for you..You will be in pain for quite some time after..I tried going back to work (desk job) after 3 weeks as I felt well but in reality I couldn't and had to go off again...Take all the time you possibly can before going back..I had nerve pains for months..Random stabbing pains.

Best wishes and take care. X
