FabSwingers.com forum: When your pics are used by other people

And I'm not talking about passing them off as thier own I'm talking about when someone downloads your pics and shows them to other people outside of fab.

We all know that once we put of pics and videos on to the world wide web they are no longer truly our own. But how do you react if you find out someone has been saving your pics to thier phone and showing others. Do you have a right to be livid and rip there FUCKIN head off or do you have to sit back and think ok my photos are on the Web I chose to put them out there I have to deal rationally with any such situations.

I'm barely controlling my rage atm I wish I had trusted my gut instint and not had anything to do with this woman! I'm also mortified that I introduced her to fab. I hope at least one forum member reads this and takes heed of the warning. Xxx

Thats a real grey area.

There is General rule called "fair use policy" regarding anything posted on the net.

If a claimant feels that they or their livelihood have been affected by unauthorised use they can take that to the relevant authorities.

The number of successful actions has increased but it means getting the police involved.

Too late now but you might want to make any face pics you have friends or private on you settings

I don't think the two things are mutually exclusive. Yes, we have to take responsibility for what we upload or write online, but you've still absolutely got a right to feel really pissed off with someone for doing this.

I don't mind my pics being on fab if I did they wouldn't be here. But I strongly object to my neighbour showing them to engine she see fit and probably not in a flattering nice way. Xxx

If funny cos my post has been going missing too. One item is very distinctive so I'm watching and waiting. She's all ready fucked herself by telling me "I buy lots of things off ebay". I haven't told anyone where I purchased this lost item. Xxx

Not knowing the background of your relationship with this woman I suggest you wait until things have calmed a bit then ask her why she thought it was a good idea to do that, especially as it is a very mean thing to do.

You can get a label for your letterbox from Royal Mail that says if you are not in then they are NOT to leave items with neighbours. It means you'd havento go to the Post Office to collect, but at least you'd know where your items are.

i would go to the post office and ask about your post? i buy a lot off ebay and some of it doesn't arrive, not much maybe 3% of it. hopefully she's not stealing that.

as for the pic thing, she sounds like a toxic friend. think it's a good idea to avoid her, but confront her about stuff if you feel like you need to do that first.

i wouldn't be happy if someone was showing my pics to others, i set my profile to not show to anyone not a member on here because i don't want anyone to see my pics if they aren't a member.

I suspect she has. It was a tracked item that shows as delivered. It wasn't delivered to me but I suspect taken in by a neighbour. Not something I've agreed too. Royal mail will not confirm who took it in dispute me asking three times. I've already made an official complaint to this extent. I am also going to contact royal mail again tomorrow and set up a collect and keep account. Xxx

see I FUCKIN hate all this bullocks I want a quiet life. All my fab friends no that this is no longer me. I don't want to be an angry aggressive person again I left all that behind but I'm socially inept that's why I keep myself to myself. I don't like, etc people. Xx

Years and years ago I used to be on facebook. A photo of me and some of my friends was taken from facebook and used on another site (not someone pretending to be us, just posted on another, well-known site). I was really angry, but there is nothing I could do about it.

Its why I don't have facebook, and haven't had it for almost 10 years. I see fab in the same light. I would be pissed at whoever did it, but it would be an empty anger because I can't do anything about it and I knew that when I signed up for it.

just remember to keep calm IF they do come round to question you.

they'll probably offer mediation anyway as a first resort, you don't have to take that. i didn't when my neighbour was a dick with me, i just told them i have no interest in sorting anything out with her. by the time the housing officer had left he was laughing about my neighbour is anyway.

I don't think it would be as the pictures are being shown rather than shared electronically.

However if the motive in sharing them is malicious then I'd guess that there would potentially be some offence, most likely harassment

I did do but didn't get very far because I have a tracking number that sayes it was delivered, but obviously not to me! The postie wont want to drop himself in it either by admitting he gave it to a neighbour instead to taking it back to the sorting office. Once I've set up collect n keep I'll order another scarf. It's just upsetting as it was my family tartan so cost me a fair bit of money. Xxx
