Why are "Would you" threads

so popular I wonder? Not that I have anything against them, in fact have taken part myself on some occaions.. I am just curious what makes them so popular as in a way they are kind of repetitive and therefore predictable?

Is it because we humans love playing harmless games?

I actually rate them. They are a silly game and they are repetetive, but their popularity speaks for itself.

They are great for new forum posters to test the water in the forums, they get people chatting and encourage banter.

I've had a few meets off the back of them where I've started chatting to someone on them as well.

So long live 'would you' threads I say, after all they are easily avoided if you don't like them.

To answer the OP - Exactly that - they are easy to participate in, especially for newbies (they were the 1st threads I ever posted in), they aren't contentious, and I have found that they have been very successful for me in terms of both meets and making friends

That is what I suspected, in part anyway.. and I myself enjoy taking part in them sometimes. It is the sort of thing at the end of the day when you dont want to think much... or equally as some people say, they are a good way for new people to gentle come in and test the waters.

Personal opinion..

Way too many of them and I believe that those who post continually on them need to get out more!

I did post on a couple of the first ones, but quickly realised that they were turning into a vehicle for the, err... "I need reassurance" brigade.
