Has anyone seen this in the news

Twin boys of 2 years old having a set of drawers fall on them

One of them having the sense to try and lift them off one of the boys

everytime i see that it just makes me mad,, ive not seen the whole thing in full so not sure how long those children were alone for..

i just not sure why the parents would release that footage.

All I could think of was why would you be so far away from two year old twins that you wouldn't hear a chest of drawers fall on them, or be able to see from the cctv that it had happened and immediately rush in and help?

Cynical money making venture using your children? I think so.

Think they want to show why you should attach furniture to the wall ie learn from their mistake. They are lucky and want to warn others.

Those chest of draws come with explicit instructions and the parts to attach them to the wall. Accidents do happen but that was so preventable and how were the parents/carers unable to respond in seconds? I just don't understand.

The only furniture we ever attached to the wall were tall slim book cases.

I'm generally very sympathetic to parents, it's a tough job and we all make mistakes. However I'm not very sympathetic to people who leave two year old twins alone in a room with cctv and aren't aware for quite some time that a chest of drawers has fallen on one of them.

To warn other parents to not be as careless. We can all say we do everything to ensure our children are never harmed... but there will always be something. They were brave enough to take the stick from the world in the hope of saving another child

I guess if someone watches the video and then thinks oh I better make sure that is screwed to the wall then at least some good will of come from it.

It is fascinating watching the little fella realise that his brother is in trouble. You can almost see the problem solving going on. He was determined not to leave his brother trapped even tho it was too heavy for him to move.

I wanted nothing more than to be able to appear in that room and move that chest of drawers for him.

Makes me grateful that my twins a) would never go upstairs to play b) could never let me go to the toilet alone! Lol!!

True.

I stuck up for the woman whose child fell in with the gorilla that had to be shot. I stick up for nearly every parent who has made a mistake, my son drank Jif while I was in the room with him I'm hardly blameless. But something about this doesn't sit right with me.

oh i know we all make mistakes but its just uncomfortable to _iew..

id like to know the full time scale those kids were alone for before their parents came to check upstairs on them and then realised that drawers had fallen.. there were both parents in the home at the time. if i had heard a band of drawers dropping id have been up those stairs quicker than the 2yr old to save his brother

I havnt watched it but u just know these kind of posts bring out the snobby parents who cant admit they turn thier backs on thier kids sometimes! I admit if i had a drawer band id run upstairs too.. However no one knows actual circumstances to judge anyone x

if they had to take the kid to hosptital then the parents have probably been questioned about this incident, and their parneting skills, anyway.

I can see why the parents released the footage, it may hopefully raise a bit more awareness to fit bookcases etc onto the wall,

We've been decorating our child's nursery ready for her arrival and have a smallish dollhouse bookcase that's free standing and before seeing the video I hadn't thought to fit it to the wall, now when hubbys home today it's the first thing he'll be doing!

Reading some of these comments, I'm clearly a shit mum.

Our kids are 18,13,8, and I've never used any of the brackets to attach their furniture to the walls.

Kids, especially young ones, can get up to all sorts in the blink of an eye. So sometimes bad things happen and no-one is to blame.

Its one of the many learning curves parents experience.

Bloody hell I'm still learning and sometimes you just have to wing it and hope for the best x

It was shocking to see, but accidents happen but the part that concerned me the most is the amount of time it took the other two year old to work out how to move the chest off his crying brother and with the sound of the crash no parent/babysitter came running to help?!? Where were they?!

According to one of the post I read yesterday, what you don't get told is this was early in the morning and for boys had got up, they were unaware of what happened until they watched the footage.

I do have a question though..unless they live in a 36 bedroom house, how did they not here A) the wardrobe fall and B) the baby crying (I've not heard it with sound so I don't know), why didn't they fix it to the wall? Well done his brother!
