You can get up to 200 calls a day and end up going to the police because it then gets out of control

I have one phone. I don't need people I only meet for sex to be contacting me on it when they're horny or whatever. It's not about bad things happening, it's about not wanting to have to deal with all of that, including inevitable fakes, on something as personal to me as my phone.

If I think you're my friend, you get my number. That's it really.

"pester pester pester, need to block them."

That was kinda what I meant. New mobiles have the software to block nuicance numbers.

The point was more is it just sold to a ppi firm, or could it all go a little 'enemy of the state' with hacking and such?

ive a mix of men, women, couples.. but yeah its all mutual respect and understanding that facebook life is just an extention to the rest of my life. Ive never seen fab as a 'secret' or seperate part.. im the same person.. but on facebook etc its more family/social based for me

whose gonna go to all that effort for like 0.000000000000000000000001p though? PPI claims will buy whole lists for fuck all and wouldn't be interested in one number on it's own.

best way to get rid of them is when they've said 'we heard YOU blah blah whatever shit they are calling for', just reply by asking them what's my name then. they hang up.

Yes although phone number has never really come up with anyone else.

But it is much more guarded after a 'stop texting my bird' call from someone I was told was the ex at 6.30 in the morning

Get a dual sim phone, so the number you give is a potential burner number.

Unwanted calls, calls and abuse from his missus etc. Ignored or the number is trashed.

I'm selective though someone called me a whore, amongst other things this year.

I have only given my number out to one person through Fab, and that was way after we met. It's a funny thing privacy, things like Kik allow you to keep a distance from people and help you feel secure, but I totally get why it can seem like hiding or fake.

I always use Kik, mainly for the reasons others have listed, to avoid d*unk calls and pestering.

People who refuse to give mobile numbers after a meet has been arranged are usually timewasters I have found.

All the usual lame excuses come out - no credit, it's a works phone, my wife/GF checks my texts etc. Heard them all.

Now if any refuse I bin them immediately

What's the problem with giving a mobile number ?

It doesn't show where you are and if anyone becomes a phone pest you can just block them. Simples !

It's not a guarantee of genuineness but it shows a certain degree of good faith to give one.

Kik is just an anonymous thing for time wasters to hide behind

Because it gives people access to far more than just a phone number.

I experienced 5 months of harassment and threats from a guy I gave my number to from pof. I blocked him so he just found ways to get around that. Sometimes it was over 35 calls an hour, calls anytime of the day or night.

So that’s what can happen. If someone can’t understand me being reluctant to give out my number then they aren’t someone I’d like to meet, as I understand the frustration but surely it should be able respect and making sure both parties feel safe and comfortable?
