Tiny teeny Facebook foof rant

There's a page called Mums Advice on there, which I look at occasionally - morbid curiosity - and a woman asked a question about checking your own cervix throughout a period cycle, and so many women are saying it's a stupid ridiculous topic, saying how they don't know what their cervix looks like, how that might cause an infection, how only a doctor or 'hubby' touches them there.

I know my body well and I know whether all parts are normal too, especially my foof. Is it more common to know your body, or to be more prudish?

I think it's better to know your body but I also know that, even in this 'enlightened' age, people are really ignorant about their bodies.

I think amongst my friends most know their bodies well and are not prudes. Certainly nowadays you'd think that women would be checking these things more than my generation was taught to. Some weird people around.

Without the use of specialist medical equipment by a specialist in gynaecology then no one can tell how healthy their cervix is.... changes hormonly and throuh periods can do that kaz

Yeah, the question on the Facebook page was about how it feels during at certain times during the cycle.

After suffering from infertility and having no periods for years I began to 'chart' by checking cervical position etc, I luckily fell pregnant twice because i learnt what was normal and what wasnt - sadly I lost our first baby but am currently 30 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby girl!

I've been told by lots of people how disgusting it is and I shouldn't do it but I stand by the fact without it i wouldn't be expecting my daughter!

Congratulations and well done for taking control of your body knowledge. I don't understand what is disgusting. It's not like you were practicing copraphagy.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

There would be a lot less misinformation about sexual health if we took the time to check ourselves out.

I have to root around up there to check my coil is still around, and I have 'misplaced' a couple of tampons. What do these delicate flowers do when that happens?

After having cervical cancer and a coil I do tend to have a ' feel' for changes internally.

Once a month. I also go to all my smear tests and well woman check ups

A small satsuma went 'missing' in mine once. I wonder if the lack of cervix played a part?

I know what you mean - I use a moon cup on my periods, to take those out you need to use a finger to break the seal round the cervix and then you end up with a cup of bloody tissues. That might make those flowers faint

Umm...

Well, I used to meet a man for sex lessons and I always take at least water and snacks (fresh fruit, usually). We were testing what I could 'manage' and it went in, eventually, and then other stuff happened, I had a small orgasm and that 'sucked' it in further and I couldn't reach it.

I was getting worried it might be a trip to a medical facility but me pushing and him pulling finally got it back. It was still edible.

but when we were little girls (my generation anyway) we were not encouraged to be open about our bodies and there was a general feeling that our genitals weren't quite nice.

Like Mrs HotterHarder I too ended up charting for fertility reasons and that included having a feel of my cervix daily for its position and whether it was open or closed to work out my fertile days. Admittedly though prior to that my fingers hadn't gone any further in than to fish out a lost tampon or have a bit of a fiddle. It felt like a strange thing to do but was fascinating too. Never thought of it as disgusting though.
