"Do it! I think hiring a personal trainer is an investment in your health and well being. They will help you with your diet, workout programme, goals, form and motivation. Well worth doing. Just do your research and find a personal trainer who cares about their clients and not just lining their pockets. There is a huge difference between a personal trainer and a great personal trainer. The difference is results with them will be huge too. Eve. X" Did yous have a threesome with him in the end?

" I had a female personal trainer, now I'm almost a qualified personal trainer and will be using a fellow female PT. I wouldn't dream of having a threesome with anyone I have worked with in a professional sense. Eve.

"For £60 an hour, I'll motivate myself for free. Prices are typically around £25-£35 in my region. Eve. X" Same in mine. Local gym have personal trainers that can help you. And it is a great idea. I have tried one few years back when I could not motivate myself and I had an injury and needed help with motivation but also with the appropriate exercises for my body type, my injury and what I wanted to achieve. Do it for a couple months to get you started, get as much info from your trainer to take with you when you are ready to fly solo. Good luck and have fun OP

"Try starting with going for a walk and go further every time Surprising how good it makes you feel" I tried that advice but by the end of the week I was 44 miles from home The trick is to make it a circular walk so you end up back home each time

"Been training for 3 years. I've never once paid for advice. YouTube. Books. Talking to people. Watching there form. Mix it up every few months as you're body adapts. Pre work out drinks. A strong coffee before can help. And my motivation is when I look in the mirror " Nothing wrong paying for advice and a little push in the right direction. Better that than being miserable on the sofa I say. Some people need help to get motivated depending on their circumstances. Some people need a human interaction instead of a screen/online experience. Lots of different people out there.

As an analogy : You can learn a foreign language from books and tapes but there is nobody to correct your mistakes, improve you, challenge you and develop you so progress will be slower. With a good PT (and really there lies the difference) you will get nutritional advice on things like macros, carbs and protein balance etc to name but a couple, as well as good (lift) posture and the right combination of various weight training exercises. The best personal investment I have ever made was my PT.
