Well it's only 6 hours away before the big party begins. Anyone else from Hull looking forward to it and is anybody outside of Hull going to be visiting this great city.

Will do. I just have to look at what's scheduled for the year and pick the events I really want to see.

Kirkby

Liverpool was the capital of culture in 2008, all that happened was, developers built houses and flats on every scrap of land they could find, now they are being sold off cheap or stood empty for years.

You ought to give it a try. There's some good museums, galleries and an awesome aquarium. Lots of stuff happening all year with the City of Culture too.

Hull

I'm going him to Hull on Tuesday to see what's going on.

Tomorrow night, there's a huge fireworks display to start the festivities off, with the pyrotechnics being done by the people who did the opening and closing ceremonies at the London Olympics.

There are events throughout the year too.

To answer some queries, some of the city centre rebuild works were completed just before Xmas and others are ongoing.

Hull is recognised as having the lowest cost of living in the UK, has been recognised by the UN as having more free museums per head of the population than any other city in the world, and even The Rough Planet Guide rated it last year on the top 10 up and coming cities to visit.

Go on, give the city a visit; Hull Trains will get you there from London in just under 2.5 hours, it's only an hour from Leeds.

And Ni, it doesn't stink of fish.

Apologies for typos; phone on the blink, shows text as ok, but it isn't obviously;
