Free hotel room access

Inspired by Kay, I think it is, on another thread.

A list of hotels that support unrestricted guest access to rooms would be great, allowing them to come and go without a key or you going to the lobby.

Where do you know like this?

The London ones generally have locked doors between the lobby and guest rooms. I used a Manchester one and it was the same but a woman on reception seemed to get my needs and handed out room cards .

Every Travelodge I've stayed at has either needed key access to the lift, the corridors, or the rooms. No free access there. Premier Inn is even worse!

Yes. Standing in the lobby of a Travelodge in lingerie and a sweater at 2am trying to explain to a group of people that you just need someone to swipe their key for the lift so you can get back upstairs to your husband in the room is embarssing when you are standing there with another man and a pink vibrator.

"Your husband is in the room, huh? Then who is that? *haha*"

Meh to lifts that need keycards to activate.

On a bright note, Ely Travelodge is fine during the daytime. They may force guests to contact reception after midnight, when the door is potentially locked

Every hotel I've ever stayed in in Newcastle has had free access to the lifts to the rooms. Every hotel I've ever stayed in in London was key card only access - I think it's maybe more city based than chain based? But there are lots of hotels in Newcastle and other hen and stag do destination cities that have bouncers on the doors after 10 or 11pm checking how many people are going back to rooms.
