The Tantric Tea Shop

Santa has finished his rounds, the last present dropped off...stuffed full of mince pies and sherry, milk and cookies and whatever other foodstuffs are on offer around the world....he lands his sleigh for a rest...

.

However, he has landed on a conveyor belt! When it come to taking off, the conveyor belt will move in reversible, proportionate speed to Santa's projected take off...

.

Bearing in mind Santa's rheindeer have also probably have been given nibbles en route and have probably taken magic 'dumps' onto the conveyor belt...

.

Will Santa's sleigh take off?

.

Over to the science chaps

Only if they are in a Boeing 747

Do passengers 'dumps' fall from a boeing 747?

I think this has already been debated

(not by me as I don't give a flying 747 )

Really!

The science community has debated a fictional character landing in an improbable situation?

This goes far beyond blue sky thinking

Glastonbury

Mythical creatures do not exist so cannot attempt to take off from theoretically frivolous runways.

Night sky thinking belongs to Astrology..blue sky thinking is open minded conjecture

But hey! Its a shit question, just hoped to attract the science geeks after suffering the original question

No, logically.

Dispute the logic. Dare ya.

Nothing wrong with arty geeks...even Einstein referred to creativity as being the mark of genius rather than knowledge... I work with arty geeks

Santa is already a fat bastard do the reindeer would already account for his size. He's already emptied his sack in lots of homes.

There's no reason why he can't take off in the direction of the conveyor belt.

It is a moot point. In that situation he can just walk back to his grotto. He's got a year until the next Christmas delivery window, after all. Plus it'll do him good to go for a walk after all that food, booze and milk. And reindeer are migratory by nature so it'll give them a chance to stretch their legs as well.

haha, ffs though it doesn't matter coz when are we ever gonna need to make a conveyor belt like that?

The Town by The Cross

Yes.

Reindeers do not depend on Bernoulli's principle.

They just fly and the sled goes behind them. It does not fly. It is pulled.

Fucks sake.

Next !

Iceland, but Aldi is closer..

Unlike the 747, the reindeer need ground traction to gain forward momentum..

So unless they have eaten copious amounts of curried brussels en route through India, there is no means of external propulsion..

Reindeers do NOT need ground traction.

They just fly.

Key points:

The sleigh does not have wings, and there fore does not require any kind of air flow to create lift.

The sleigh is powered my magic reigndeer that appears to run on thin air

The whole rig would have to travel at the same speed in the opposite direction in order to stay still

So in theory, if the rig were to travel at a nominal speed faster than the conveyor belt, say 1mph, there should be enough forward movement for the reighndeer to get a foot hold on the night sky, and thus, take flight, because as I said, it has no wings so needs no forward motion in order to archive lift, just a step forward to climb into the sky

Logic found in the illogical lol
