Waking up and grabbing an orange out the stocking for breakfast rushing downstairs to see what you had 6 foot icicles hanging off the guttering it was magical as a kid but stressful as an adult I do enjoy playing with my son's toys though.

As a child we used to get some nuts, a satsuma and chocolate coins in our stockings.

We were so pleased by that alone that the presents were an added bonus.

Where I grew up we would get snowed in often over winter which meant spending time playing in the snow with my dad who couldn't get out the village to get to work.

That was priceless.

The Town by The Cross

I remember one Christmas morning. Snow lay thick on the ground. I trudged through our town centre and some old bloke threw open his window and ordered me to run to the butchers and fetch him the biggest turkey in the window. He said if I did it quickly i could have a shilling ......... fuck me i've never run so fast in all my days and in my bare feet too.

i was blessed, my childhood xmasses were in Germany and we had snow on each one that i can remember..

Start the day with the hunt in our bedrooms to find our stocking with gifts inside.. me and my brother would then go and jump on our parents beds to wake them up.

All had to have a shower/bath and breakfast before we could open gifts and start the day. All wore 'best clothes' too

After presents we had a xmas morning walk to the lake and came home and played board games whilst mum n dad did the roast meal (later afternoon ish)

Worthing

Agree with o/p. My parents never had much money in the year but always made Christmas very very special. I have so many happy memories as a result and appreciate everything they did to give me those memories.

I got tons of presents when I was a kid. Tons. And we had a huge party with more dessert than food and everyone sang Christmas songs and all the kids played in the snow outside. It was fucking awesome.

Christmas meant a lot when I was going because it is a holiday that perfectly suits children...I can appeciate that with crap loads of presents or just a few.

Favorite memories: Walking out into the woods around the house as a kid to choose and cut the best tree we could find.

Lying with my head under the lit Christmas tree and staring up into the whirl of colors.

Making Christmas cookies and frosting them with such a mixture of colors and sprinkles, there was more icing than cookie.

My favorite gift ever was the three Barbies I got (used) when I was about 6 or 7. I played with them for years.

This year, I'm grateful one daughter will be home with me; we're making cookies and pie and while there's no room for a tree, I'm getting out a few decorations tonight and hanging up lights on the railing. It'll be my most simple Christmas in decades and I'm excited.

Grew up after birth with foster parents so didn't have much of a childhood or Christmas until I was 14 when my neighbour bought me a toy Hulk Hogan figure. Can never forget.

I used to like getting Christmas Annuals any type of book really. The last good presants i remember getting was two costume dolls, pink lipstick, purple lacy tights and three wishes bubble bath, i wonder what kids of today would think of that.
