Exhausting time of year

I wonder why we get to the week before Christmas and we are all worn out and need a Christmas break??? I live on a farm but we even look forward to relax. Maybe it's the whole year catching up?

It's certainly a jolly busy week here I only get Christmas Day off. Then two days between Christmas and we year.

I work in retail so this is TH busiest time of the year . So I am just looking forward to a restful lazy Christmas day lol

I think it's all in the mindset at this time of year. For some reason, people allow themselves to get soooo stressed with the shopping and military operation that is Christmas lunch that they forget to enjoy the now.

Ever since I've lived alone and with Mrs N, there's never been Christmas stress, no need for planning, I shop when the masses aren't around, and I wing it when it comes to cooking stuff...using whatever I have in the cupboards.

Our friends and family are told that we have no budget for gifts, etc, so they have to make do with our best wishes and company, no stress about getting into unnecessary debt from buying tat.

Overall, both of us are unbelievably relaxed by the time Christmas comes around.

I'd say it's definitely the whole year catching up. That, and the strange Betwixtmas period that's looming. Many of us are looking forward to the new year but also pondering on what's passed

Exactly, I just don't understand how so many can get so insanely stressed by it. I giggle my childish ass off when I walk round the supermarket and see folk with 2 trolleys, 3 kids, worry lines, and that £327 food bill. The supermarket is shut for 1 day, 2 at the most. Get a grip people!

For me it's more babysitting on top of more shopping on top of more cooking, and cleaning the house for guests on Boxing day.

This year we have 12 for Christmas dinner and at least 20 for Boxing day.

It may only be shut for a couple of days, but we have lots of people to cater for-food and drink-over 2 days.

Xmas eve = work

Xmas day = work

Boxing day = work.

My next day off after today is the 30th, so yes, I find it exhausting, but not in the same way as most.

No tree, no presents, no food, no drink. It's just Sunday to me.

The only time we work hard for Christmas is buying our son presents. That was sorted mid November apart from a few bits and pieces. Time to work hard as I'm in retail and kick my feet up tomorrow night and enjoy the magic.

Im not stressed at all.

I love this time of year.

I am tired but thats because am still recovering from operations and injuries.

Posting Cards.

Buying Cards.

Buying Gifts.

Wrapping Gifts.

Giving or Delivering or Posting Gifts.

Dresses to go out.

Money to go out.

Cold Weather

Extra Heating if the family is over.

Extra Towels , Bedrooms, Sheets, Bog Roll n stuff.

Stuff for Kids for School.

Charities

Beggars

Diminishing Bank Balance

Disappointments.

Religion squashed in your face.

Guilt.

Like the poster who said they've risen above it ....... I did it two years ago and I couldn't be more content.

I opted out of the Greed Fest.
