The Solstice comes and the year turns...

It always lifts me, every year, to know that the circle has reached its end and that the days will soon open out...

Outside, the hails is rattling down, and the wind is howling in from the Atlantic - but I know that warm days are not so far away - sunshine, loose skirts, days of laughter and wandering the hills skyclad....

Happy Solstice and Yuletide everyone!

Though now the winter solstice draws nigh

Trees have shed their leaves that die.

Beneath the ground under rain, frost and snow,

The shoots of new life prepare to grow.

And then days grow longer and nights curtail

As the wheel turns for us all again

A blessed winter solstice I wish for you

With a joyful, peaceful and restful Yuletide too.
