When I used to work overseas I could go without for about 12 months or so, then I would come home, but I will say sex wasn't the first thing on my mind, usually I just hankered for walking the green hills

Went 4.5 years without any but the urge never went. Could always rely on my right hand though so that might explain it.

I'm getting cross eyed within a week though if I don't have any relief at all.

Prior to joining Fab, I went 6 yrs with barely a kiss. I just had to deal with it but it rocked my confidence and self esteem and any feelings of being attractive or sexual.

A little bit of infrequent and/or unsatisfactory sex is worse (for me) than celibacy. Extending that to masturbation, which is just efficient and not as enjoyable leaves me with the craving and no real release.

i went four years. it was only when i started again, did i get the urge to continue..high sex drive when its going, when it isnt going, i just don't think about it x

My career performance was best when I was celibate. I suppose all that sexual energy was used to advance myself professionally rather than personally.

I think it came with practice. At first I found it really difficult but as time passed I got better at it. However doing it at will now came within the last three years

It seems to have grown stronger since my menopause. I was sort of hoping the menopause would end the craving.

I was always led to believe the same but I guess it depends on what kind of menopause experience you have.. I sailed through mine with no loss of urge at all and no HRT either

I have been through periods, when the ex has not wanted anything other than a cuddle, which was always nice, but she knew I was going to have a wank and we were both happy. I think that period lasted about 3 years before penetration happened again and I was with her for nearly 10 years.

I've never made a conscious decision to be celibate but I have gone without sex for years at a time & never really thought that much about it.

How celibate ?

If you have a sexual urge then satisfy it.

You wouldn't expect anyone to understand if you tried to starve yourself to death or if you suddenly decided to deny yourself something as natural as drinking water.

The body asks for sex. Let it have sex.

If you don't want a relationship or sex with another thats fine. Use self pleasure.

The body/hormones will let you know when it doesn't want sex.

My celibacy has always been a reflex to being hurt by someone I was sexually intimate with. That celibacy can last anywhere between 3 and 18 months, depends how long it takes for someone else to catch my eye, whether I feel like meeting them, that sort of thing.

When I'm taking time out, sex is the last thing on my brain.

Never, sexual desire is a tricky and evil git... just when you think it under control it sneaks into a dream, or someone walks past wearing her perfume or something happens to trigger a memory.

I still have particular memories of sexual encounters with my first wife that leave me horny for days if they sneak into my head, she has been dead for 20 years so they are not recent!
