People use the block facility for a whole host of different reasons, so I wouldn't take it to heart if I were you.

I tend to use it if there's clearly no interest from the other person in order to prevent me from bothering them again, amongst other reasons

That depends entirely on how over-sensitive they are. If they are that sensitive, they shouldn't be on here. You know, some people fancy some people and some don't. It might sound unsympathetic but it is the reality.

We are not God's gift to the beauty universe and understand that we are not going to be everybody's first choice. If we are approached by, or approach others, who are not compatible then blocking or being blocked avoids future contact.

If someone doesn't reply to one of my text, unless they text back, there will no further contact anyway. I am not a child to message all the time the same person who seems to not want me and I, maybe wrongly, assume that everyone think the same.

I am totally agree that some people need to develope resilience, yet at the same time, I completely understand how someone who feels like shit if after being polite and sending a face picture, she/he gets blocked.

But to block someone after seeing his/her face picture is worst that a statement.

There's far worse things to lose sleep over, we were at quest one night and there was a group discussion about being self conscious and hating parts of your body etc. So me being me piped up in my usual dead pan way with "I love my body, just a shame nobody else does" well the soon erupted with laughter and then came the awkward stares of 'is he being serious or not'. I was quite amused for a few minutes at least, and then we went off to play with a lovely couple

I'm not usually bothered when I'm blocked - I always have my reasons, so they must have theirs - but the ones which annoy me, are the cowards who send an unjustified nasty bullshit message, then block before you can respond.

We were upset when we got our first block. We never blocked anyone either. Then we had some abusive men , so we started using it.

Now we use it all the time as it saves time by stopping unwanted messages i.e. From people who have been on the site for a year with no veris or photos. If we got a message from them we always felt obliged to reply. Then we had to respond to the 'why not' reply etc.

A simple block saves everyone's time.

Don't take it to heart .

I had a boss who shut down complaining/feedback etc by simply saying 'there's starving children in Africa so your problems are nothing compared to that' or dom along those lines.

I've only had to use it once so far to block an annoying member. The rest of the time i use it to prevent me from re messaging when there's clearly no interest. So most of the time it's nothing personal.

Quite an emotive subject. I didn't expect so many people to chip in when I posted my 'definitely' tongue in cheek post.

For those concerned for my well being, thank you and don't worry I certainly won't be losing sleep over being so cruelly blocked

I think I'll always feel a little miffed if I get blocked in my opinion unfairly but that's their prerogative.

I'll only block someone if they are rude/abusive.

Just because I don't want to have sex with someone initially, doesnt mean I don't want to get to know them. Who knows, once I get to know them, I might like to have sex with them...

It's the same mentality as not reading a message before seeing a face pic, then deleting without reading because you don't fancy the picture!?! I hate to break it to you, people rarely look like their photo anyway

1. Yesterday, I receive a message from the female half of a couple asking for a face pic

2. I send her the pic with some words thanking her interest

3. She opens the message, deletes it and blocks me...

Well, I totally understand that I am not attractive to everyone, but a "no, thanks" would have been more...elegant. Furthermore, she can't be too exigent...

At the end, from a positive aspect, to be unrespectfully blocked is another way to avoid vulgar people...

So I could have been blocked by someone who's profile I've not tried to look at?

That's why I'm probably unaware of being blocked, because if I have been, its by someone I have little interest in talking to anyway.

If you are blocked ( or you block someone) they do not appear in your searchs or "who is near". If you find them in a forum, you are not permited to visit their profile. If you have an old message from them, you are not permited to reply.

Don't feel guilty about blocking someone. If you've blocked them it's for a good reason. Don't dwell , just move forward
