Socialy bumped into a female old friend, had a long catch up chat ...... No spark between us never has been but always got on.

Chat got round to partners...she seemed bemused why I was still single and chose to be....could,nt understand why..

Yet herself sadly been split from husband for a year or so . This of her choosing and is amicable ....but feels miserable being single.??? Confused.com

She said even though won,t get back with husband ...only felt confident and sexy whilst in a relationship..just feels a failure as a singleton...

No matter how much I tried to reassure her she was,nt having it...

Is that a similar for most ladies ??

no. i have been single for over 6 years. once in a blue moon i have 30secs of 'wouldn't a relationship be nice' then i come back to my senses.

no. i have been single for over 6 years. once in a blue moon i have 30secs of 'wouldn't a relationship be nice' then i come back to my senses.

Exactly this. I've been single for over 2 years by choice. I've not in the slightest interested in having a serious relationship. I'm very happy being single. It's far more stress-free for starters.

Psychologists say it's because mens brains are like store houses where each thing has a place and we use that memory ect and then replace it where it belongs.

Women have more emotional ties where many things and memories are linked by emotions. It's why they are always thinking and and remember that fuck up you made 10yrs before just because they smelled something.

Hate being single. Widowed two years ago and miss everything about not being with a partner. Yes I miss the sex but that's not all. Would love a NSA friend but suppose I'm to old to attract anyone. Had no luck here. Sigh. Will keep positive and maybe my luck will change.

I never felt a failure or lacked confidence or anything but I far prefer being in a relationship and having sex on tap 7 days a week! I think men prefer singledom for longer than most women. I love sharing everything too.

I've been mostly single for nearly 3 years and I really enjoy being on my own. I don't feel like a failure and I feel far sexier now than when I was in my long term relationship.

I've known quite a few men bemoan their single status so I'd say it's down to the individual and not necessarily a male / female thing.

I have been single all my life and I like it. I can do what I want when I want it. I am just to busy with bodybuilding, the casual sex life style suits me fine

I don't think it's a male/female thing. I know men who jump from one relationship to another because they don't have the mental strength and resilience to cope being single. Some people like being single, some hate it. It's not evenly split down gender lines.

. Maybe.....though with her looks I,m sure she has a lot of attention....perhaps that's it to much attention overwhelms her.. Just goes to show we are all wired differently.

This is how I know I'm transsexual xxx

I'm comfortable on my own , I'm comfortable in the right relationship , I do arrogantly feel as time goes by that my perfect woman is missing precious moments of my time in my prime xxx

But to be objective , some men and women feel they need to be in a relationship

Some feel they need to be single and some are comfortable either way

I enjoy being single, finding a woman who is honest and open minded enough to be confident in her own skin without the need for reasurance by any man is a hard thing to find im affraid

Finding a woman that doesnt have some alterior motive around sex is also hard to find

I like being single and being partnered - but being single is my preferred option.

If I felt inadequate as a person I would deal with that, rather than going into a relationship as a cover for it.

Being single absoltely sucks...when all your friends are married and you're back on the shelf yet again after several failed relationships and all you want is to be wanted and cared about...its kinda hard not to take that personally. Yeah I can do what I like, yeah that's cool, but I want to share my life with someone who values me for more than my vagina and do all the other things that couples do.

It sucks being suddenly stuck with the 'single bloke' stigma again, regardless of how we got here. (In our case, with no choice). Middle-age is not a good time, to find yourself back at square one.

However... the guy she agreed to walk up the aisle with, is still in there somewhere

I've probably spent more of my adult life single than not, and I'm not 100% sure which I prefer!?! I'd much rather be single than in the wrong relationship and I like my own space, but I still miss having that special someone.

Been single 4 years and it's the first time since I initially started dating I have been single for longer than two months.. was a bit weird at first but now I think I have a whole different mindset. There are times when I get a bit upset and feel I would like a relationship but that phase passes and I come back t reality.

I only miss the small things a relationship brings. But those are things I can also live without.

Love being single - meeting new people without any worries and I can relate with different people over different things. I can also do whatever the hell I want.

The comforts of a relationship are nice but the idea of one person being my everything, forever, sounds a little crazy to me. I think I have a lot to get out of my system before I could happily commit to someone.
