So what if that person has just done a 12 hour shift in a hospital. Had a use thrown at her, saved a life or two or just made an older patient smile and finished their shift and went to bed. I mean how dare that person.

Is this a concern or just a personal dislike ? If you have major concerns about said parent being in pj's then take that up with the scool . Or as I suspect this is just more an issue you have ..then I suggest you need to vent that angst to actual issues not pointless minutia.

My auntie always picked me and my cuz up from primary school in her pj's. And that was 20 odd years ago.

Yes its more common these days but still happened before then aswell. Just saying.

PJ wearers are just bad people. imagine the horror if you're at the roadside after an accident and it later turns out the paramedic was a PJ-on-school-run (or corner shop or ATM) wearer.

I.. I don't know if I could come to terms with it.. I probably could.. in time, with a support network of psychotherapy, friends and family, and you guys.. we, together, can make it through..

might add this to my medical bracelet details, if ever I get one

I used to drop my ex of at work just in my dressing gown since I used to go back to bed after. One day someone flashed me to pull over turned out problem with my breaks and my wheel was on fire. Car was left at side of road for ex to sort the recovery out from his work. The lovely couple dropped me home I wonder if they needed therapy, luckily it was early hours and dark.

People can do what they like but I will sit here and quietly judge them, lazy bloody sods. But then when my mam was picking me up from school it was after she'd been at work, not watching daytime telly all day, so that's just what I've grown up with.

Perhaps they're self employed / freelancers.

I know that one of the big reasons I'm still self employed after half a decade is because I get to stick two fingers up at society and wear Batman pyjamas all day.

Sometimes I'm in a Garfield mood, but lets be honest - if you can be Batman, you should be Batman.

You have nothing but assumption. That is a very dangerous thing to make or base an opinion on .

Shame people can't see that there could be a bigger picture here and maybe a very valid reason the person wore pj's ..not just make a snap judgment that they are lazy or can't be bothered .If jumping to conclusions was an Olimpic event ..by god we'd have gold medal contenders in the forums lol!

Not to mention - some of us earn quite a considerable amount of money sitting in our PJs. There's no laziness involved at all. Far from it. If I was lazy I wouldn't be able to afford the rather nice lifestyle that I have.

But it's a snap judgement that people do and will make. If I've been working from home and need to go to the shop then I'll put some clothes on before I do, because I'd find it really rude if other people couldn't be arsed to do the same and came to my workplace like that.

Again .... assumption. Could be varied reasons !! I had a hysterectomy end of last year. I perfected jammies at times . Does that make me lazy walking to the school to pick my child up if I had to??

Just because someone doesn't change from jammies for school run or to shop doesn't make them rude or lazy just not what you would do. By god folks there's a damn site worse clothes wise ppl could and im sure do wear instead of innocent pj's on a school run ! Lol .

Really in the whole scheme of things does it really matter they wore jammies ?? Why ppl get wound up over such pointless minutia is beyond me .

some things appear odd to different people and sure expressing an opinion may appear judgemental, but let's be honest the OP hardly walked up to the person and let rip.

Some folk just want to get angry and respond in an aggressive manner. You could after all offer a plausible and balanced argument without being so offended. It's called discussion?

How do French women dress?

Stylish and classy even the old ones, they look after themselves so would also look ok in casual wear.

I think you have an outdated _iew of what people really wear day to day in other countries. France looks remarkably like England."

"Lots of people dont agree with it though and its only something people have started to do recently."

No it's not.

When I was the sole carer for my severely disabled sister I used to sometimes leave my nightdress on under my coat and tuck it into my leggings. Some people spend so much time looking after others, they don't have time to look after themselves.

There are also people who like to keep their jamas on to drop their children off, because they bathe and dress when they get home. As long as the children are clean, fed and looking tidy,I don't give a monkeys what their parents look like.

I think the issue is this. Many people are rushing to balance getting to work, going to get shopping, dropping the kids off, smart and on time.

The pj wearer is symbolic of the person who isn't doing that. The perception is that they dont have a job and dont have any need or self motivation to dress for the day.

It's that that annoys busy people.

In some instances the perception might be wrong and in many cases it will be true.

At my boys school I'm the only one in dresses and heels for work. The last time I went in my suit I reckon some assumed I must have been going to court!! They all look down their nose at me. I don't care though.

That said I have done the morning school run in my pjs and a hoody before. Although I didn't get out of the car. I've also spent a whole Sunday studying and took the kids for McDonald's drive through whilst all in our pjs! They loved it!

i will often get it and get changed into pjs.. lounge pants or whatever you want to call it.. sometimes its because my disabled daughter has spilt.. thrown or even been sick on my day clothes and its comfy and chilled. I am often seen in my pjs when walking the dog.

In fact i have about 12 pairs of pjs..

I dont really do the school run as such now but when I did work nights id often do so in the pjs... because it was easiest before getting ready to go back to work.

However most of the time I get comments of I must get up at 5am to get that done up.. as normally smart and all made up... but there are times when pjs are great...

Normally before going to a club.. I will have full underwear on with some comfy pjs over the top till I put my dress on x

I would like to put my two pence in here, I think a certain 'type' of person, the original OP and ruby was describing. Generally if you see mothers at the school gates in PJs they are a certain type of 'class', they don't work, breed like rabbits and have odd named children, this I can comment on, I have seen it first hand, I don't think anyone is bashing shift workers or the like, it was aimed at those mums who actually don't go anything all day, you can tell the type a mile off.

Also, it doesn't bother me what kind of attire someone wears to pick their kids up but if the above mums do, if they have been sitting watching judge rinder and smoking rolleys all day and not lifted a finger they go perhaps try and be good role models to Chardonnay and cruz, and put some clothes on.

Disclaimer

If any other person gets their kids from school in this way that has a job etc and for whatever reason they wear PJs this was by no means a dig at you but the Vicky pollards of this world: chavs

My Own Little World

There have been times when I have been in bed all day trying to lose a headache, had to drag my sorry ass out of bed to collect my kids from school. I took the time to wash my face, brush my hair and teeth and put on clean clothes, not the ones I has slept in all night and most of the day, just joggers and a T-Shirt nothing fancy. Basically because I would feel disgusted with myself going out and down the school looking like a slob in sleep wear.

Then there was the time I was decorating, I ripped the leg of my joggers, lost track of time and had to rush out the house without getting cleaned up. My daughter gave me sooo much shit for embarassing her by standing in the playground in ripped paint covered clothes. I told her that next time I would leave her standing there for 30 minutes while I showered and changed..... she wasn't impressed by that either.

But yes I do judge those who collect their kids in PJs at 3ish in the afternoon, I don't stand there and tut, roll my eyes or make comments, nor do I start threads about it or moan on FB, but I do judge silently.

I also wonder at those who look like they have just stepped out of a glamour photoshoot, hair perfectly styled, makeup and nails immaculate, shoes that match their outfit. I wish I was that together before midday
