I see a lot of written documents and the spelling is variable across all of them. In general I think its more important to express and communicate than it is to spell correctly as long as what's written can be understood

I'm here! I was just about to say that the lack of punctuation can be more of an issue, at times.

Some of us have trouble with spelling and grammar through no fault of our own! I struggle with letters and numbers and have done since a child. I personally don't get offended when others act like they are superior due to correct English, but I could understand if people in my situation did.

It took me a while. Lol. I made a real effort as it's a problem I often face. Facebook also has many undercover grammar cops on patrol

If I can understand what is being said then I have no problem with bad spelling. Some people will never be able to learn to spell properly and the sooner everyone gets over that the better.

Wrong on so many levels!

Important legal documents went out in my name. I doubt people would have respected my views/felt confident in my ability if my office sent out letters along the lines of

"yu hve a gud kase wiv a prob'ity ov more van 51%".

Our children lag behind and can hardly write their own language because of lazy teaching.

I'm 56 and still remember my English teacher, Mrs Laing, and her almost anal approach to the correct use of apostrophes. One of many of my inspirational teachers.

Yeah...yeah...everyone who can't spell is dyslexic on Fab!

Personally, I think it crass to point out and pull people up for poor spelling. That said I do use it as a filter as I like banter and to be engaged mentally.

If I need the Rosetta Stone to decipher a message it's not happening.

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

There are a number of categories here:

Dyslexics.

Badly educated people who have been told they're dyslexic to cover for it.

Lazy people who claim to be dyslexic.

People who make typo's.

Anal retentive proof-reader.

It's possible to be in any of those groups and still be eminently shaggable, but it will always be true that better spelling / grammar will cause less rejection.

So those that could do better, really should.

We do not judge on poor spelling, mainly as Matthew's spelling is quite poor. He is not poorly educated and is a doctor of science, however writing has never been his strong point.

For a first message, I tend to write it as we do like to make an effort and we are generally sat together at the same time. However, when conversation is flowing Matthew frequently replies to messages (sometimes with the odd incorrect spelling) and thankfully it has never been an issue, as Matthew can hold great conversation and the words that have been misspelt are easily recognisable.
