Ideally go to the stables, take a horse out and just ride... then chill out with a good book and a good glass of wine in front of a roaring log fire.

My first Christmas on my own this year , my son moved out yesterday , so Indian takeaway and a lock in at the cricket club , chill out and do some housework for a couple of days , then off back packing

If I was 100% alone I would cook exactly what I wanted to eat (probably wouldn't involve turkey ) watch some rubbish on the telly and eat my body weight in After Eights.

I wouldn't choose to be alone though and would probably volunteer for something if nobody wanted me

This....I might ride this Christmas as we're not eating til later in the day this year! I quite enjoy doing stables on Christmas morning anyway, especially if my man helps me - leaving everything ready so we could just stagger out later all pissy-arsed and pop them in. Sigh, one day.....

Xmas eve carol service, morning wank, real kipper for breakfast, walk to church for service, the turkey lunch at 1pm, the Queen at 3pm with mince pies, high tea at 5pm, supper at 7pm. Fall asleep to the Great Escape or the Dambusters or something similar. 11pm stagger to bed. All washed down with liberal quantities of alcohol.

If i was on my own for Christmas then it would mean something catastrophic had happened to my large family so i would probably be spending Christmas in a mental health unit

Its a great opportunity, to make friends.......with yourself.

If you can enjoy your own company, its more likely that moving forward others will enjoy it too.

I spent Christmas alone once, and I was dreading it, but I got to experiment with my Christmas dinner, watch what I wanted, and had a sleep in the afternoon, drinks at 7:30, then boxing day, a nice breakfast, and a walk in the beautiful country park, with a flask of tea, and some shortbread, it was a nice change of pace, and I enjoyed it, I think everyone should have one year alone, even if its to appreciate, having people in your life.

I recommend lamb shanks, with red wine and onion gravy, with potato and broccoli mash

I've gone abroad previously and also volunteered.

Last year and this year I will work the last day of the bank holiday weekend as it means I get overtime and takes the pressure off my colleagues when everyone is back.

I'm quite comfortable spending the 25th alone. I won't be bored or lonely that's for sure
