There's so many opportunities to be pigletty at Christmas foodwise and drinkwise.

Homemade sloe gin, champagne, whisky and the cheese selection, roast turkey/goose/pheasant, sprouts, Christmas cake or pudding etc.

What three drinks or foodstuffs particular to *your* celebration of Christmas are your favourite? It can be a specific version or recipe of the food or drink. How do you have yours, and what makes it Christmas for you?

My mam makes an amazing turkey pie with leftovers. I may have "accidentally" ordered a turkey crown that's way bigger than we need so I can get her to make me a couple of them

Also, After Eights are compulsory from about the 15th December onwards.

It is delish but you have to put a third pice of bread in the middle which is dipped in gravy for extra moisture (an idea stolen from Ross in friends and known as 'the moist maker

)

My mum used to have a practice Christmas dinner a week beforehand so I used to get two. My favourite (before I went veggie for a decade or so) was boxing day though. Cold turkey, hot creamy mashed potato and farm shop pickled onions. Amazing! I like Christmas pudding as well, cold for boxing day breakfast with a cup of strong coffee. Plus all the cheese and biscuits I can eat for a week or so. Drool.

They're irresistible actually ..... a bastardised Hairy Biker's recipe hence 'Hairy nuts'. Industrial quantities of mixed nuts baked in honey, chilli, lime, and spices until they're hot and sticky (oooh err) then consumed for around eight weeks thereafter until we're sick of them ...

Taylor's LBV Port and a good selection of cheese....smoked cheddar, Stilton blue and also with white with cranberries, Brie, Roquefort and a good roulade ..... should do the trick

Yes, leftovers and dishes to use things up are my favs. I adore the plethora of pickledy things and cold cuts and cheeses and popping to the fridge (a la nigella) and sneaking mouthfuls of things!

Other than the duck curry the rest appear to be impossible to replicate. Whether it was the fact that pepperpot was eaten after Midnight Mass or that garlic pork was eaten for breakfast, I don't know. They're just not quite right and all of them take a lot of work.

I tell you what I noticed whilst trying to familiarise myself with my revamped Sainsbury's layout - both Jack Daniels and Jim Beam make bottles of BBQ sauce!!!
