"anyone had a battle with depression? i currently fight it every day, can snap out of it! would be great to hear other experiences. " It goes with my PTSD, the hardest part is realising you have a problem, the next is admitting you have a problem and then hardest of all is asking for help. Unless you can do all 3, there will be little chance of reducing it's impact on yourself!

"I ha e suffered with depression my entire life been on and off meds and have found different ways of coping some with help some without There are a lot of factors to it The first being you need to not listen to any or all negativity..especially people telling you where to get your help from...help can come from a perfect stranger to a professional... And secondly realising you are a suffering is believe it or not a great thing because you realise you need help and that you cannot do it on your own... Sometimes the simple thing can help, like watching a film that takes you back to a happy childhood memory, music that sets your mind free even if only for the 2 1/2 mins it is playing... Do you suffer from SADS it could be you need a SADS light to pic up your spirits" ----------- Yes I do suffer from SADS as well, and I have the light.

"That's how I feel. I go from extreme happy to down in the dumps! In a matter of hour. Hearing one negative thing can spark it. The problem is I find it difficult to play the happy guy but I do it non the less. I find it very difficult to bond with people. I had anti depression drugs, but they make me feel awful. But just hearing from u all, I'm Not alone make me feel normal again. I'm going to start regular exercise to see if that helps!!!" Only you will know what works for you, you will get a lot of advice on how to deal with it, from yoga, to "just cheer up" and from medication to "come on lets just get pissed" its a bit trial and error, but you Are not alone ![]()

"I don't smoke because that just kicks my ass tal health issues I find occasional bit of herb helps numb my brain from light speed think once I'm down]" That's the thing, when I'm down my mind needs quickening up a bit, its horses for courses

"Yep, the black dog descends every so often, the trick for me is knowing the signs before it fully hits, because if I let it in it can take a lot of work to lift it again. I've tried medication, but it just made me feel....nothing. So I try to keep myself even, I don't drink regularly because that starts it off, and I don't smoke because that just kicks my ass mentally. Only people who have been close to depression understand quite how dark things can get, and that just because someone doesn't walk round with a sad face all day, that they are depressed, case in point, Robbin Williams. And I hate to disagree with soxy, but ANY forum, is a forum for mental health issues, not many people when they are trying to cope with depression, go searching for depression forums, they are depressing, sometimes when I'm feeling depressed I just want a bit of tome off from it, and to see enlightened funny posts from a bloke in a frock ![]() I here you.... I'm right here now and struggling ![]()

"Medication for depression takes away all feelings so you feel nothing at all, just numb x" For you maybe. That's not everyone's experience. Mine has saved my life. I get peaks and troughs. I still 'feel' sometimes I wish I didn't.

People could read that and think they want nothing to do with medication without realising that's an individual response not a global response.

"Had it about two years since I broke up from a girl I loved more than anyone I ever have. It was the most intense relationship I've ever had and she was battling depression and decided she didn't want to be with me anymore and wanted to fuck a guy she worked with. Since then I can't totally shake it but have good and bad days. " No one is worth living the rest of your life in a state of depression. Get some help, don't live your life stuck in the past, move on and enjoy the positive things you have in life.

I'm mainly finding it hard because I still speak to her a lot and I know how sick she is and she comes asking for support on her bad days. I know I need to block her from my life and move on but I also know there are days she needs support and it knocks me back. Sometimes you just want to say fuck off and get support off the guy you fucked but I know she's not well so just stay plesant to her.

"A couple of websites that I recommend to my patients are moodgym and moodjuice Both are cognitive behavioural therapy based self help packages / guides, which have a lot of evidence for helping with episodes of depression. If people prefer books, then I can higher recommend Mind Over Mood by Greenberger and Padesky. most areas also have services known as IAPT (improving access to psychological therapies). If needed, google it for your local area. They often offer therapy quickly and accept self referrals. Hope that helps anyone who needs it, and positive wishes to you all" Thank you for that, i'll look at the websites ![]()

" 20mg citalopram " that's the dose i was on, but it made me feel nothing and dry mouth, so i stopped. I guess my main trigger was when granddad passed away. Its him who comes into my mind when im down regardless of what's brought me down. i always have this feeling if granddad was here id be okay.... the struggle continues. I do want to say to you all, that the fact you have spoken about it with me on this forum has provided me with a sense of hope. I came here to explore the sex and physical side of thing, but what i have found is some real people with real stores, so i thank you all. i read a quote i wanted to share with you all 'If there is no enemy within, then no enemy on the outside can do us no harm!' one love people.

"anyone had a battle with depression? i currently fight it every day, can snap out of it! would be great to hear other experiences. " Yep. I suffered it for 5 years. Bloody awful Have you tried counselling? I was skeptical about it, but it really can help. It can help you identify the triggers and causes of your depression which could help to you finding a way through it.

"There are so many really great posts on this topic, and I'm so glad to see that mental health stigma is lessening so we can all talk openly about it. I have experienced depression and anxiety on and off for a decade. Everything is pretty well managed these days apart from occasional bouts of social anxiety, and it is no coincidence that I'm able to be open about it with people in all aspects of my life. It's really great to be at a point in my life where I can really help other people who are going through tough times. Quick reminder that anyone can call the Samaritans for confidential anonymous emotional support. Freephone 116 123." Samaritans are great! I'm not ashamed to say I've rang three times and it's really helped me. I've promised myself I will join them to help others when I'm clear of it myself.
