Sticking my head above the forum parapet today...

I'm just wondering what winks mean to people on here. Are they meant as an ice breaker to see if person wants to chat, or something else?

The reason I ask is I've had a couple of people fab my pics (shocker I know) -'d then send me a wink, so I've sent a message on return thanking them for looking and asking if they'd like to actually talk and see if it leads any further than just looking - -'d that message has been deleted unanswered.

So what's the point of winks if not to show some interest? (I know any interest doesn't lead to guaranteed meets/sex)

We just see them as a simple, we like what we see. Nothing more.

Some get so offended by them it's laughable.

Yes I've noticed some people get hugely offended by them. Seems a strange thing to be offended by! But each to their own

It confuses the heck out of me as well, I don't get the whole communication system on here to be honest. I've had the same & ive actually read their profile, put some silly title as they requested, been polite and respectful as I always am, write a nice long message and 99% of the time poof, it's deleted without even a thanks for the compliment or a no thanks. Think I'm gonna start saying a generic hello in my messages.

I never send winks to folk, if the profile interests me enough to contact I'll send a message I think the investment of time is worthwhile.

As a guy I get very few winks so I'm happy to respond with a message, I expect nothing ..so I'm never disappointed if I don't get a response..
