I was drawing up a list, I'd got the essentials on there such as sat-nav, camera, maps, snow chains, but I'd completely left out the nibbles....

Not necessarily, me & 3 mates did a road trip round Western Europe for 6 weeks on our motorbikes in 1988. All we took was a couple of tents, a primus stove and a change of clothes. Sorted
