Of course I knew that. I was reading Wikipedia during my lessons in college when I finished work "Although my favourite Latin word is "otium." It means a state of relaxation, of leisure, when a man could retire to his estates, drink his wine, screw the servants, whatever - relaxation. It's also the root of "negotiate" - "neg-otium", ie, "not being at rest, doing business." Today, otium survives in English as the word "otoise", which means "producing nothing of value." Sad. | |||
