and tired of having to do everything by myself!

Don't get me wrong - I'm OK about being single most of the time.

But then the weekend comes and I see everyone out with their partners having fun and I feel sad

Time to stop swinging and start looking for something else?

You've got to do what's right for you, you just need to be honest with yourself about what you really want. Very few people actually enjoy being single if their friends are in steady relationships. Having had several friends and many colleagues in this situation. it only gets harder as you get older. It's good that you're thinking about it now though.

I didn't find celibacy boring.

I have very little sex now (see the 'how many times...' thread ) and a little can be worse than none at all, for me.

I would suggest not mentioning swinging when on vanilla dates. Vanilla people tend to look down on swingers

I hope you find the right time... although I wonder if there ever is a right time? The most romantic, and very successful, relationship I know describe that they just took a risk on each other. 25 years later they're still together and taking a risk.

Try pushing a baby buggy down the high street. Every fucker coming towards you is a sickenly happy couple with their baby.

Bit like you buy a yellow mini and every other car is also a yellow mini.

It's all relative. Everyone else's life sucks too. Just not necessarily visually the same as yours.

Did that help? Make sense? Oh fuck; rambling again

Mmmm!I have a couple of local friends on Fab, where there has been no sex or plans but remain friends and lend an ear when needed or meet for coffee...

Some folk may find it controversial, but I believe true swingers, see it as a swinging community which involves friendship, trust and respect....If you cannot at times 'just be a good friend to someone,' then it is sex site...

I hope some good friends on site, gather around you OP x

Yes it's difficult!

I actually have no idea how to meet men in real life!

I rarely go out and I work in a mainly female environment!

Not odd. You two weren't compatible on this and neither would compromise. It's better to know that early on.

Think thats one thing ive learnt about myself, be confident in myself not to be in a situation i am not comfortable with. I dont need to bend over backwards just to please someone.

There was no major pressure but i appreciate he has his preferences and i know my own.

Are you looking to still swing? There was a post I saw earlier by a guy that clearly wanted a relationship with another swinger, so there are still options here, if that's what you're looking for..

Otherwise, I agree, you need to get a hobby/interest and meet some like minded people.
