Why is it ok to show female full frontal nudity in movies and on TV, but not male FFN?

Im a straight guy so I’m not that interested in seeing the guy, but it seems like a bit of double standard.

I think it's more to with erections than the full male nudity. I don't think they are allowed to show an aroused Penis. With women it's not so obvious

There is no female version of indecent exposure either.

It's all double standards in the media generally to be honest.

To be fair, dangle bits would be the least interesting part to look at from my point of view

Brighton - even Hove!

There was that naked dating programme on a while back. The men were all naked and viewed from the front on that.

I don't think that's true. Haven't you seen Naked Attraction?

Im not saying its a 100% rule, but it doesn’t happy that often, especially if you are having to go back 25 years for an example.

Take 50 Shades of Grey, probably the most sexual mainstream movie of the last decade, plenty of female FFN, but not 1 frame of male FFN.

Mull of Kintyre rule? I know it was only ever an unofficial one but since you tend to see female nudity most often as a prelude to a sex scene the fact the guy can't be shown in an obviously aroused state would make it lack verisimilitude.

Angle of the dangle generally, you can't show an aroused chap and unaroused sort of spoils the authenticity.

Oh and women most definitely can be charged with indecent exposure, the sexual offences act does not mention gender in relation to exposure. So if you wave your foofoo at folk in Asda and people complain you would get done

But why can’t we see an aroused chap? The majority of the population either has one, or quite likes them, would it really lead to the downfall of society?

Depends on how mainstream the movie is.

Scarlett Johansson is fully nude in Under the Skin, there's also a fair bit of male nudity.

There's a few other examples in independent and foreign cinema.

Maybe it's got something to do with the majority of movies being made and/or funded largely by men?

Or maybe its as simple as the fact that more men are 'turned off' by seeing men nude than women are turned off by seeing another nude woman?

Either way it's sad. More nudity says I.

You don’t think that a fully naked {insert sexy male actor here] would pull a few more ladies to the box office?

Try 9 Songs by Michael Winterbottom. Real life sex scenes in that and erect penis if I remember right. Though it's been a few years since I watched it.

I think it's different for movies compared to TV programmes possibly due to the age ratings system.

TV regs permit full frontal male nudity but not in an aroused state. The mull of kintyre guidline thing was mentioned above.
