There definitely seem to be very, VERY few younger people on here who engage in this practice, on here at least, and the few times I've seen it in public.

Crossdressing seems to appeal far more to older guys in their late 40s and 50s, but why?

I have noticed a similar trend but I'm not too sure why.

Maybe it's because older folk are done giving a shite about people's opinions. Whereas some younger people tend to feed off people's opinions.

But I couldn't say for sure

I have met a 34 yr old c/d who happens to be a fb friend. Youre right though, not many younger guys probably admit to it. Maybe as you get older you are less inhibited by it.

Interesting thread. I wonder if its once you've got to a certain age, you're wanting an occasional change - like a rest bite from normal normality and to be a different personality, such as the opposite of what your used too.

Maybe guys have had to be a masculine dominant person all their lives and its a release to be different.

I guess everyone will have their own reasons.

I would say that's just on here.

My first owned sub when I was only 20 (and I wasn't even aware of being a switch) was a cd sissy sub. He was 6 mo younger than me.... and we are still friends now.

It is mostly older people for sure.

I think it is purely the attitude of not caring what people think anymore.

Also to add society is more accepting of people being different now especially in this country.

So I guess they are expressing their freedom to be who they want to be a bit too

This is predomantly a swingers site. There is a whole "scene" out there. There are sites dedicated for tvs

Bars and clubs. I wouldnt hold with much based on this site

Hhmm I dunno... I've always been into wearing underwear for as long as I can remember. I think I'm my 20s when I had my own flat and could have done loads I was fitting in the the "norm" however as life goes on you realise that there are people who support and like what you do!!

I think it comes down to confidence, I was far too scared to come online and post pics of myself dressed when I was 17/18, now I'm in my twenties I've got over that, middle aged people probably feel a lot more comfortable with themselves I guess. It's not easy x

I think as you get older you do seem to care less what people think and enjoy more what you have always wanted to do like traveling and seeing shows so I guess it's the same with crossdressing.

I have always been into dressing and I am very lucky to be supported from my wife which helps, younger people might not have this support and may be worried what people think or be ashamed of it even though it's very common these days x

At the school where I work, there was a young lad who was openly gay, very camp, and was happy to wear girls uniform & carry a handbag. He also never got any hassle at school for his preferences... which is refreshing.

This is only my opinion.... and what are opinions like? Assholes, everybody's got one!

So, I'm 54, born 1962... right at the beginning of the swinging 60's, a time of free love and liberation. Although too young to understand what I was doing or why I was doing it, at around the age of 5 or 6, I found myself dressed in my sisters swimsuit with my little winkie as hard as Blackpool rock! I knew it was naughty but didn't know why and I knew I loved it but should keep it 'my secret'. As time went by I'd occasionally slip into a pair of my mum's tights or stocking, the feeling was awesome. As I grew older and progressed into my teens, I fully understood what was happening (but I liked girls, this didn't make sense!), I'd borrow girlfriends stocking and lingerie to dress up in and fantasise about being with another girl like me. Jumping forward a little towards the end of the 90s I'd begun to buy my own clothes, lingerie and heels. The noughties saw the birth of Linzi (after many other guises), into the teenies and Linzi started to experiment with make-up, keeping myself smooth until finally taking the plunge for the first time, just a couple of years ago and meeting another crossdresser, transvestite, whatever you want to call them/us and....

"WOW" I knew I had found a place I belong.

All this started in about 1966/77 and has progressed into what your reading right now!

Interesting question OP and interesting opinions from all posters too.

As for me, it comes down to opportunity.

I didnt have the opportunity when I was younger.

I wish I'm 10 years younger when I started crossdressing (started in 2013 - 42yo) but I don't think I have the maturity back then to be the crossdresser I want to be.

So, it's ok. Better late than never.

I've been dressing since I was sixteen.I've always had the confidence anyway .maybe I didn't always get the look right but .that comes with time.I had make overs done at a few beauty salons got loads of helpful advice.I took deportment lessons as well.I've met loads of younger TVs and most do lack confidence.stepping out first time is a huge step but once you do it you get such a huge buzz from it.

I started in my late 20s although I'd been wearing undies/tights since I was 15. I could have lost my job and worse if I'd have dressed and been caught back then. Thankfully things are much different now and I love being me!

I have been dressing since my teens, but I never felt as comfortable as I do now. Back then I had the body and looks to be convincing, but never really dressed it out fully.

Maybe it is a confidence thing, some younger people are still coming to terms with the guilt of enjoying dressing in women's clothing. As I felt back then when I started.

I am a m2f transvestite.

Being a tv girl or crossdresser isn't just about putting a frock on & feeling horny.

It is one of the last big social taboos & is therefore still a dirty secret derided in the main by men & women.

You spend your whole life in conflict between what society expects of you as male & the desire/need to transform/feminise. Trannies are in the main straight bordering on a little bi!

When younger you fight the urge & try to live as a virile young man. Dating, marrying & having a family. Obviously the woman in your life is unaware of this aspect deep inside you. You have it under control & suppressed?

It always comes back, it is a part of you. Look at the profiles of tv/cd most have the same story to tell.

There are young who dress, most start at a very early age, in childhood or early teens & live with the fear of getting caught all their lives. It gets suppressed.

In later life when marriages are stale, the kids gone dressing comes back. The dirty little secret returns!

This is my opinion & I haven't expressed the torments of being a tv girl or cd very well but I hope you all understand a little more.

When it comes to it & how tv/cd are treated by society in general just look how they get treated by a lot of the good open minded folks on here.

It took me 34 years to admit I wasn't right in the head.

Probably another year before I stepped outside.

It's not easy letting the world know you're like this and very few of us can walk unnoticed.

The few who can pass unnoticed probably didn't at first.

There are always a few who wish to mock what they fail to understand and it's those people who do, or at least the fear of encountering one, that make stepping outside scary. Imagine how nervous you'd be. The self doubting thoughts whizzing around your head. Why am I doing this? I must look ridiculous. People will assume I'm gay. Everyone will spot me straight away. Etc. If someone were to point, or worse, confront you, you are already on the edge of fight or flight.

So I imagine that's why it seems to be mainly older people who dress.

Oh and one other thought; it might be easier for younger people to dress and pass unnoticed.

That is a very familiar story to my own, but I keep it suppressed. Glad to know I'm not the only 1. I have recently met someone away from here who encourages me to be myself and let's me wear my female clothes.

They do, and we think nothing of it. Unless they drag up with beards etc, in which case they pass and you don't notice them.

The fashion is weird, but still patriarchal, if you think about it.

Personally, I feel more "liberated" - more natural (although it's unnatural to most)

For younger people the boundaries are increasingly blurred anyway. When I was young just using moisturiser was enough to have your masculinity questioned.

Today I play sport with younger blokes who do each others hair, debate chest hair removal methods, wear make-up and nail varnish.

Maybe they're generally less hung up on things that older men consider important for their identity as a man/woman.

Be nice to think that something good has come out of this 'metrosexual culture thing, and the lines of masculinity will finally blur away.

(I might just be cynical and think its all just a ploy by nivea to sell twice as much moisturiser though.)

I would say it's more to do with age and the internet x I know of lots of younger and they seem to use alternative apps, also I find from experience guys will not admit to this on here for fear of putting women from wanting to meet them and the same for guys who want a chick with a Dick

I think it's the result of lots of influences and changes in our society and those from previous years. It's also potentially related to people discovering and accepting more about themselves as they mature. There are lots of people pursuing sex everywhere but many of them don't consider swinging as a potential avenue that they could explore. And we now have so many specialist apps that this also adds fractionation, meaning some people may use several or else others find niche apps and services that suit them very well. We just get a selection of people in all genders here on Fab, certainly not the majority of those that may love our world.

No not at all, I actually felt relaxed when dressed as a woman. As I grew in confidence with wearing the clothes and make, I found it felt normal to wear either gender clothes.

Ive been dressing since i was 15/16 and its only me that knows, none of my family know either.

I just feel great when i dress, as a man im plain and dont find myself exciting. But as soon as i slip on some nylons and a bra i feel amazing on the inside. Inreally think theres more young men/women out there they just need to take that almighty step. I couldnt recommend it enough
