The 'I know I'll regret doing this Fab Secret Santa 2016' thread!

Right I'm nicking an idea that Miss Geeky ran last year as it was jolly good fun

It's ok, she's given me permission to totally plagiarise her idea and, gawd, I know I'm probably going to properly regret doing this as an administrative nightmare but what the hell ...

It's therefore time to launch the Secret Santa Picture thread 2016!

The idea is that participants are matched up (secretly) and send each other a picture they've taken just for them. The twist is, in the picture they have to have include their match's username either on their body or on a piece of paper (saying something like 'Merry Christmas Joe Bloggs!' for example).

So it's a picture specially taken for them! And if it's Christmas themed then all the better!

All pictures should be sent by Christmas Eve at the latest - ideally sooner if you can take them in time!

Soooo, if you want to take part:

Send me a PM (all PMs to be received by next Wednesday, 7th December at 7pm).

I will pick the names out of a hat and pair people up. Unless otherwise requested I will match a man to a woman. This process will be fair and random and you're just going to have to trust me on this! And I won't entertain any 'requests' of who you'd like to match with!

I will then send out PMs to everyone taking part (hopefully by Sunday 11th December latest but will try to sort sooner) with your match username.

Last year more men than ladies joined in so I expect that'll happen again. Therefore if any ladies are prepared to do more than one to balance things out can you please let me know? Thank you!

Remember those that have filters on will need to send a message their match so that they can then mail them back otherwise this won't work!

In the interests of fairness and to avoid people saying 'fix!' I'm NOT in so won't be able to cherry pick the hottest lady!

And I promise I won't abuse the filters of anyone PM'ing me to join in. I'll only ever message you about this game!

Noted I have no filters on at all anyway and only counterblock when I see I have been blocked. This genuinely wasn't meant to be a scheme to circumnavigate filters but for it to work and be 'secret' I can't think of any other way other than a PM so I can message the match back privately

I would, of course, strongly recommend that anyone that feels that I subsequently abuse any filters to block me and report me to admin

I would also suggest if anyone has a major issue with anyone else on here that they don't play? It's a random draw, it's going to take time / effect to sort out & we can't expect Dan to know who's blocked who.

So last year I had a very pleasant surprise when my message and picture hit my inbox.

Ok I have a question and a suggestion so my question( me being a little dim) as you've stated Dan you are pairing man with woman, does that mean you will be pairing couples with couples? And my suggestion is that you give a date by which the pic is to be sent, then the following day start a thread for those who didn't receive theirs to post in, so you'll know and maybe jog them on to do it, just a thought I'll pm you Dan about to say if we are in or not( it being a secret and all) tee hee, Mrs blue eyes

You and another person where using the forum to get around blocks so why I put a general reminder on the first sentance and a bit of advice for you on the second and why I took them off. I or anyone else wasn't suggesting you are using the thread to gain contacts, if people don't want to play because you are blocked they don't have to.

Ok , I know this is a fun thread and the rules are boring but as a general bit of advice PLEASE don't ask people to unblock you as it is against rules. Just put something like " I will play if you mail me " and mods will turn a blind eye

When pics are uploaded they assume it has permission as the people uploading are asked before uploading to have permission. However... it may be rejected, if so ask Admin from the contact button and it will be sorted

With the filter situation I found out when certain people had done there photos and messaged the person receiving asking for them to take their filters down for a while, which they all did with good grace x

Right I'm nicking an idea that Miss Geeky ran last year as it was jolly good fun

It's ok, she's given me permission to totally plagiarise her idea and, gawd, I know I'm probably going to properly regret doing this as an administrative nightmare but what the hell ...

It's therefore time to launch the Secret Santa Picture thread 2016!

The idea is that participants are matched up (secretly) and send each other a picture they've taken just for them. The twist is, in the picture they have to have include their match's username either on their body or on a piece of paper (saying something like 'Merry Christmas Joe Bloggs!' for example).

So it's a picture specially taken for them! And if it's Christmas themed then all the better!

All pictures should be sent by Christmas Eve at the latest - ideally sooner if you can take them in time!

Soooo, if you want to take part:

Send me a PM (all PMs to be received by next Wednesday, 7th December at 7pm).

I will pick the names out of a hat and pair people up. Unless otherwise requested I will match a man to a woman. This process will be fair and random and you're just going to have to trust me on this! And I won't entertain any 'requests' of who you'd like to match with!

I will then send out PMs to everyone taking part (hopefully by Sunday 11th December latest but will try to sort sooner) with your match username.

Last year more men than ladies joined in so I expect that'll happen again. Therefore if any ladies are prepared to do more than one to balance things out can you please let me know? Thank you!

Remember those that have filters on will need to send a message their match so that they can then mail them back otherwise this won't work!

In the interests of fairness and to avoid people saying 'fix!' I'm NOT in so won't be able to cherry pick the hottest lady!

And I promise I won't abuse the filters of anyone PM'ing me to join in. I'll only ever message you about this game!

As per my other thread I have decided it's time for my Fab journey to end. This decision is totally unrelated to this thread (of course!)

Therefore, with regret, I have to leave this hanging. I thought long and hard about staying just to see this through but I know my heart would not be in it and I would struggle to do it justice.
