MSN virus

Sorry if any of you received the MSN virus infection from us.

Virus infection.

Our PC has recently been infected by the MSN virus.

If you have received recently or receive in the future an email from either of us containing the phrase

“Hello how are you check out these awesome pics from the awesome party LOL” PLEASE delete it without opening it.

There are different variants of the message, some of them are very rude. Please be assured we haven’t sent these out!

If you have opened a similar message already, please run a full virus check on your PC as it may be sending a similar message to everyone on your email contacts list.

If you haven’t opened this, it would be worth running a full anti-virus scan anyway as it may have been you who unwittingly sent us the virus!

Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

I used superantispyware free edition to get rid of mine well all else failedxgoodluckxx

Yeah,we got it a few weeks back from someone else.We got it sorted out,it must be doing the rounds again.Another good reason for spending less time on msn.

We keep getting all kinds... links to photos links to join clubs.. we always always delete..

The bloody virus with a zip file on it buggered my pc up grrrrrrr thanks to my nephew.

But have a few that send as soon as they sign in some stupid sentence with my name on it and a link.

We have even told some they have the virus... they keep sending till as you say you have to delete them off the list..

when u recieve links in a convo box such as a cam girl site etc these are from peeps who have at one time or another seen them on a chat site and clicked on them as so downloadeding the said msn addy but also a hidden auto dial up softwear progeamme and

the person doesnt know he is doing it at the time and knows nothing of it, once the dial up programme is on his pc it then sends itself out to everyone on his/her buddie list and so on and so forth...if u have a pay as u go it will know this and make ur pc ring premium rate calls 24/7 to a 0748 number which is on average £20 per min...if however ur on wf-fi u should be safe but it wont take long for these peeps to work their way round that as well..

ric i read ur comments and understand completely but u i dont think u can blame the "cam girls" 100% if it wasnt for the guys thinking they were going to get a live cam show for $5 for 24hrs they wouldnt click on the msn addy in the first place..ive always said if its to good to be true it often is so leave it alone..xxxx

Yeah Reds I understand what your saying but I have such a downer on these fuckin virus spreaders.I've never understood what they get out of it.Its like playing a practical joke and not being ther to see the effects,fuckin losers.Sorry for the rant but they really piss me off bigtime.

One of our MSN contacts has a virus and as soon as we log on this thing pops up a window and asks us to go visit his latest pics. We told him what it was doing and he confirmed that he doesn't log on and this virus sets itself to make a note of all his contacts and when one logs on, open a window. This is how it's propogating itself. He wasn't online at all!

Needless to say, we haven't opened anything like that and he isn't the only one we're getting them from. Our contact list is getting shorter by the day where we're deleting those with the virus.

Virus writers don't do it for the payoff of seeing thier victims seething with anger. They do it to raise their own reputation in the hacker/virus programmer community.

Some of them are just anti-everything and see it as a way of hitting back for whatever illconceived injustice they think they have been subjected to.

Some are just plain wankers and should have their bell end dragged over a cheesegrater then soaked in vinegar and topped off with chilli powder.

I've got a nasty on on my hotmail account. It sends an email to all my contacts containing a link which, if they click it, infects them too.

I've tried deleting the emails it's sent and all those it failed to send. I've deleted my contacts and re-added them but to no avail, it's still there.

What I don't know is if the virus is on my machine or on hotmail's server (which I doubt as they have anti-spam software I'd assume) but I'm reluctant to log in to my account from another machine in case that gets infected too.

Help!!!

I always use the Avast virus scan and spybot search & destroy every week, sometimes more, you can never be too careful when it comes to viruses,especially on windows, which is why i now use Linux for more stuff.

I've got Avast running and a decent firewall which is why I'm thinking this is associated with my account on hotmail and not on this pc.

Good luck, and if it is a virus, then the free version of SuperAntiSpyware will sort it out, in fact would recommend anyone who uses the internet full stop to have it and run it one a week or so

Wishy, we had this a couple of weeks ago and changed the password. Hey presto it stopped! Not being a nerdy tech head I am in the dark about what it is, but a nerdy tech head that I know rekons that when you click the link, it puts a key logger on the MSN account to get the password (on your machine) It sends the password to the originator and he can get into your account.

Once you anti virus/spywear finds it and deletes you are OK so all you have to do is change the password!

Might be total crap, but it has worked here!

Once a day more like! We run anti virus twice a day and have "real time" protection, but we do have loads of sensitive data on the business machines.

We now use a complete Radialpoint setup that has found stuff that even the big boys have missed! On the home machines and the laptop we use an AVG package and the basic one is free.

I swear if I ever get my hands on a virus writer his fingers will be left in such a state he'll never type another fookin thing again - EVER! GRRRRRR!!

so we have to delete from messenger contacts anyone we see with the links in chat window,ok,there goes the week for us,dam,and i just had the laptop repaired from the last time this happened
