Shortlist is on the BBC.

Who would you vote for?

Alistair Brownlee would be a worthy winner, just for how he helped his brother!

That's a good list this year.

Murray has been outstanding, but he has no personality.

Gareth Bale - carries a second rate footballing nation to outstanding performances

I'd like to see either of the Kennys get it (and I'd like to give it to Laura personally).

Sticking by my man Lewis Hamilton but I hope that Andy Murray gets it again.

This BBC SPOTY is bullshit anyway, it's got nothing to do with personality, so WTF do they still call it that?

Is Lewis on the list this year?

Andy Murray has had a great year.

Won Wimbledon again, retained his Olympic title and become the first ever british world no 1 tennis player

He gets my vote

Whoever wins this year it will be well deserved as there has been some astonishing achievements, but I can't see anyone else than Murray to lift it

Can't see any bookmaker even offering odds on Andy Murray.

We've seen these things in the past.....the winners seem to be from the sports that the BBC still show!

Desborough

Do you want someone who is media friendly but never quite wins much? Aka Henman, or do you want someone who can be a miserable git at times but can't currently stop winning, aka Murray?

Mind you he was a good sport on his Mock The Week audience appearances a while back and gave as good as he got.

SPOTY is a misnomer. It is there to recognise achievement and not someone's "personality" or demeanour. There can be only one winner - Andy Murray!

Difficult one!

Love him or hate him Andy Murray has had a cracking year.

Nick Skeltons achievement is outstanding too.

Has to be Mo! The hype and excitement watching him in Rio (from a hotel bed in West on lol) was immense. It was as if almost the whole nation was watching him.

Laura Kenny or Alistar Brownlee for me.

Welsh football squad for the team award

Amy Tinkler or Ellie Robinson for the Young Sports Personality

Olympic years are always a difficult year to pick winners

I'm surprised Rachel Atherton is not on that list. Certainly deserves to be there ahead of the Kenny's.

I still think it should go to Leicester City. If it's not them then it should be the Welsh footy team

Mo for me.

Murray will probably get it, but it seems to me like it's on the basis of being the first British player to achieve those things, rather than the first player in the world to achieve those things, which is not quite the same.

The public will vote for the 'big names' - so as much as I'd like to see the likes of the Brownlees or the Kenny's etc win it, you might as well bet your mortgage on Andy Murray.

World number 1, Wimbledon champ. Can't see beyond him this year.

I agree with other posters who have said that it's a misnomer, is it for the best personality in sport, or the best sportsperson?
