I've just melted grated cheddar cheese into a pan of baked beans, swirled it around before spooning on to a buttered jacket potato ~ pure chilly weather comfort food

Really naughty as I'm supposed to be watching my weight pre Xmas

What's your winter food pleasure?

Try those cheesy beans with a little bit of the very lazy chopped chillies!

A personal favourite of mine!

I love tartiflette, suet puddings of all types, sticky toffee pudding, cheese in all it's wonderful forms once heated (baked camembert and raclette in particular), jerk chicken and dumplings, homity pie (pies in general), sausages and mash, boeuf bourguignon, chicken chasseur, curries...

Reading this back, I can see why I have such a fat arse.

I did actually consider it once but then realised I would make the person obese.

Just where I need to be.

Poire belle hélène.

Poire belle Hélène is a dessert made from pears poached in sugar syrup and served with vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, and crystallized violets.

Tesco sell it around this time of year, it's what the Americans use and if you go to the Libby's website they have a recipe for a proper American pumpkin pie!

I've converted a fair few people using that recipe

Fresh. I used tinned when I was back in the US and I think it tasted better, if I'm honest.

Libby's' tinned pumpkin and their recipe is the key to that American taste!

I'll look for the tinned pumpkin - I couldn't find it anywhere in the UK last time I looked. But I'll stick with my aunt's recipe - it doesn't get more American than that

Try Sainsbury's or Tesco around this time of year, they only stock it around Halloween but you might still find it on the shelves.

I want a jacket potato after reading this!

I'm going to have to have one for dinner tomorrow now!

But I agree that food should never be all mixed together - gross!

Put the cheese on the potato not mixed in with the beans - that's just wrong!
