Pooch and I will be up the Great Orme later , no light pollution. We just lay back and gaze on the heavens .

We can see the milky way, shooting stars and on certain nights we have seen the Aurora borealis

West Wales

Just walked the dog in the dying embers of the day & have to agree with you & yes unless you run a good scope with either heaters or a pretty big hood it's going to be too cold.

For the person I have found freezer suits for those in the meat business are outstanding & I have been out in -5c in just boxers,T-shirt & one of these suits..Dirt cheap too, but font get a nylon one, on the dead of night the rustling will drive you nuts

I won't be getting "that" out, not even though Venus is shining brightly above the horizon

I'm visiting my parents in Shropshire and the night sky is just amazing. So quiet at night too!

I stepped outside and can't see through the ice that's covered my eyes.

It's freezing.

The stars and galaxys are not going anywhere, it's not like there dying or anything.

I'll wait until its warmer.

The light from that star could be from a star that's already gone nova and died

The clearest skies in the UK are also invariably in winter, also of you have a scope that needs time to acclimatise to the surrounding temperature the relatovely short summer hours of darkness are pretty much a dead loss tbh.

Another lovely night sky, and Venus is shining brightly again

Can also just make out Mars above it, towards the moon
