I just discovered Diamine Shimmering Ink.

Glittery, sparkly ink!

And they make it in purple!

Wanking over photos of swatches of fountain pen ink isn't odd, right?

I have a blown glass pen; that's my fav fountain pen. I have a few.

Also have an art deco, beautifully inlaid rosewood writing box.

For all my emails & posts.

It's bottled ink. It's fine for any fountain pen that takes bottled ink.

I don't know if they do it in cartridges.

Oh, yes, I think they do black.

Some colours have gold sparkles and some have silver.

For all this talk of (very fine) fountain pens, I have to say my go-to pen of choice is the Sharpie.

Lots of colours, permanent, writes on almost anything and perfect for changing annoying/cloying signage

There's a review on Pen Addict.

According to the review, the reviewer considers this a con (i.e. opposite to a pro):

"Glittery inks have their uses (invitations, seasonal cards), but they do evoke visions of unicorns and teenage girls (at least in my mind). I probably won't be grading papers with these, but, after a crazy semester like this one, purple glitter might be just the thing for writing 30% on someone's exam. Who knows?"

I don't understand. What's wrong with unicorns? And ok, I'm not a teenager but I am a girl (kinda, very mature girl!).

They might do cartridges.

I suspect not though because you need to shake the ink before filling the pen, to distribute the glitter through the ink.

Just buy one of those hypodermic needles that is used to for refilling computer ink cartridges. Use it to fill the empty fountain pen cartridge. Or get a generic reservoir cartridge which you can squeeze like a teat, sacking the ink into the cartridge.

These can be bought on Ebay for very little.

Go on, get some glitter in your life!

PS. I'm very excited by this thread....

Oooohhh...

You may be able to get an adapter for it.

I don't really know about pens (other than make sure they're washable for the kids)

But I'd like to get something for the kids grandmother. She loves fountain pens.

Can anyone steer me in the direction of possible suggestion please?

the reviewer was a miserable sod, there is nothing wrong with us unicorns and, i bet messages in any ink, would be welcomed by a unicorn, in some circles he/ she is just not in the right circles

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

"Where did Lickety go?

LICKETY! Pens and ink!"

I've only just seen this. Sorry, I went out to sing for a Christmas tree lighting.

I'm not sure about glittery ink but I do like purple ink. Although it's not as easy to get hold of as I would like. My Lamy cartridges are blue and black and I occasionally find a brown but never purple.

I have a bit of a thing for stationary but haven't written with a fountain pen since school.

I'm very particular about pens and need a pen with a fine tip that is quite fluid.

I'm even worst about using pencils though (2h+ or GTFO).

Please come stationery shopping with me? I get immense pleasure from going to the big Paperchase on Tottenham Court Road just to see and touch the paper stock.

One of my suppliers has sent me a very beautifully bound hard back book where every page is a different paper stock, in every colour in which it is available. I just stroke it sometimes.

Hmmm... Do you make a bigger capital for the start of a sentence and names?

Thankfully, you don't type in capitals.

This makes total sense to me.

Since I started studying I've been writing a shit tonne of notes by hand.

I must have bought 30, at least, different sorts of pen, searching for the best type.

I'm really picky about pens too.

I'm not so bothered about pencils unless I'm doing a drawing which requires precision and then it has to be a 2H.

Well, no, not really, but I'm sure he's considered it.

None of my PAs, since about 1995, allows me to look at the stationery catalogue. They do like it when I come back from conferences with a bag full of stationery give-aways.
