As a victim of sexual violence I would hope that all decent people would shun anyone who accepts this as normal. For those affected all I can say is be strong. You are not to blame.

Taken.

You are not to blame either. I think our psychological makeup is very different though. How we view, react and respond to violence of any kind. No excuses. Any form of violence is not acceptable.

Violence under any circumstances is unacceptable. But then again there are women out there, who push it too far and play on the fact that the majority of men will never strike a woman.

So i do understand why some women do end getting hit

(Assuming I'm allowed an opinion)

All violence is essentially a case of a stronger person exerting that strength over a weaker one, often as a sign of mental weakness or immaturity.

All violence is wrong.

All those who experience it deserve to be supported.

All those who perpetrate it need to be punished.

All our youngsters need to be set a good example and educated to minimise it happening in the future.

People who try to foment discord by making it a sexist issue, or belittling the experience of one section of society, or deliberately trying to close down debate, do little to help, imho

Leaving aside the thorny issues of why we always hear that violence against women is wrong, but violence against men is crickets... you raise some interesting but invalid points.

All violence is not stronger v weaker, if strong and weak fight they are both being violent, and the one who "wins" won't necessarily be the weaker.

All violence cannot be wrong, or it would be wrong for me to violently defend my child from a violent attacker.

Punishing all perpetrators of violence equates to punishing everyone in the military for example, though some may argue we already do, via lack of the support you mention earlier.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and alienate everyone when I say that violence does have a place, the problem is that that place should be the place of last resort, not the place of first resort just because I have downed six lagers and you walk into the kebab shop talking like a southerner...

Trying to get the violence out of people is like trying to eradicate heterosexuality, you'll never do it because it is an intrinsic part of mamallian life.

What we should be doing is educating people in controlling their urges, and while I applaud your ideas to set good examples to youngsters, we should start at the top with sabre rattling politicians, who somehow never manage to get to the front of the queue and be first over the top on day one of the wars they are so eager to start.

I'm all in on your closing para though, excellently said.
