Possibly one of the first threads I've ever started that wasn't a game thread (well, only kinda this time!) or sex related, I've let one a few times that I'm actually a huge GOT fan having only gotten into it recently, and caught right up. I guess I might be a bit behind the times, but if any other fans fancy a chat, this is ye old fat hen tavern or something - Hot Pie will be along shortly*

There and to the left a bit

Was a latecomer to watching it despite being urged to do so for ages...finally gave in after watching one of yhose "Top 50 Game Of Throne Moments" type programmes and before I knew it was on a diet of 2-3 episodes a night...caught up before the end of the last series to air and can't wait for the next to begin.

I love the show in its own right (and especially Bronn ) but admit that despite that it doesn't sit quite right for me now given the storylines are being driven by the production company, albeit with George R R Martin's involvement and blessing. Like 100s of 1000s of other fans I worry (selfishly!) that he'll die before finally letting us have the last books in the Song of Fire and Ice series and I do wonder whether or not he's run out of enthusiasm, or energy given his age, and will eventually just shrug and say 'well, you know what happens anyway ...'.

In any case, the anticipation and excitement that usually precedes the publication of a new book in a series is going to be dulled by the prior knowledge - presumably - we'll all have of storylines, though admittedly the books contain a great amount more of background detail. The show has deviated from the existing books in a number of ways, merging characters, or obliterating them altogether ... it'll be interesting to see whether any further books will still contain those discrepancies or whether they'll effectively be padded out GoT scripts.

Don't get me wrong, as I said in the first place I adore the show, and also the books .... I just feel a little short changed as a reader given the way things have panned out ....

I think towards the end of last season then the story line was pretty much given away.I wont post on here as dont want to spoil for those who have not yet spotted it.Well worth watching season 1 again though and I think bit of season 3 and the last season and you will spot the big build up for next season.

The last season was sorely lacking but there was a couple of epic episodes. I hope the next season won't be as slow, hoping to convince the mr to watch it so he can watch the next season with me. Also reading the books but come to a standstill as they have got seriously boring
