What's the smiley face thing?

We see some people have a smiley face next to their profile name when listed on the site. It sometimes sits next to the tick that says you are verified.

Does it mean anything or is it something you can set on your profile? Just curious!

It means you are friends with them.

On our friends list we can only see one person who has the smiley. Don't know if it's because we're looking on a phone but only one friend has the smiley shown . Confusing !
