Daniel Craig, best bond ever?

What do you guys think, I do like Sean Connery and Roger Moore, but I think the gadgets got a bit silly, when Casino Royale came out I was totally blown away by the way they had stripped it right back, making bond more human and not dependiant on silly gadgets.

I'm really looking forward to the next movie but without Daniel Craig, I'm not sure who would best fill the role, maybe Tom Hardy?

I didn't like his bond at all..used to like the cheesy bonds and it's taking it's self far too seriously now and I don't like the franchise any more as a result.

Has to be Connery, before it got all silly.

Timothy Dalton was hugely underrated. Living Daylights and more so License to Kill really brought the Bond serious to a much more realistic setting. It then went downhill again with Pierce Brosnan.

I thought once Pierce Brosnan came into it things would improve but once they introduced the invisible Aston Martin, it was never going to go well.

Only ever liked bond with Daniel Craig. Hated the rest of the bonds. I wouldn't mind idris Elba I think he'd be good

Connery is king I'd say, but I agree Dalton is underrated. His two films in hindsight, aren't that bad at all. Brosnan suffers from the fact that his last few films were too laden with silly gadgetry. The invisible car was just taking the piss. I do like Craig's more stripped back approach to Bond.

Loved Roger Moore. View to a Kill is probably all time favorite.

But Daniel Craig is special

All the bonds were different, I liked first Daniel Craig film but the last one was pretty poor - he really looked rather tired and fed up with it all.

I like Daniel Craig as Bond. He's much closer to the books.

Previous Bond films and actors are all great in their own way, but Craig actually represents the Bond of the books; who Bond really was. I like that.

And he's ginger. Nothing against gingers in real life (I actually have a thing for red-heads). But a ginger bond? Really?

I think the franchise is taking itself too seriously too.....the Fleming books were written with plenty comedy in them...not taking themselves too seriously....Riger Moore (though often much maligned) actually got that!

Sean Connery is my bond. And Pierce Brosnahan after that. Don't forget they wanted him years ago but the Remington Steel people wouldn't let him out of his contract

I think they should get Philip Winchester to replace Daniel Craig. It's not that Tom Hardy couldn't do the job but it would probably end up defining his career, besides he plays a better bad guy.

I read the Fleming books before I ever saw any Bond films:

None of the film Bonds are anything remotely like the written Bond.

And the films are garbage anyway.

I didn't like him.

Too dark, broody and menacing to be Bond. The role needs a sense of humour which Craig doesn't possess.

Damien Lewis would be my choice for the next bond.

But Daniel Craig is a worthy second place....

Craig easily best. most credible so far. Connery was just a creepy greasy git. Roger Moore even worse! dalton could have been ok, but too 80s and was in silly stories. didn't get brosnan..something just not there for me.. Craig I thought was much better, not so polished and flawed, which I thought was better

The original books and stories by Ian Fleming.

Which were OK but not exactly great works of literature

I agree, I loved the humour put into the Sean Connery and Roger Moore films. Not much of a fan of the Bond franchise anymore it all seems to have gone a bit boring now.

David Niven casino Royal, its David Niven for gawd sake, but if I have to choose from "real" bonds, its got to be Sean Connery, he is superior to all pretenders to the throne, and forever shall be bond.

It's not necessarily better; it's just different.

Though whoever the chap is who plays the current Bond does show flaws in character, Flemings Bond was also a flawed character, with a dark side, and many hints of past issues, and self doubt.

Film characters seldom ( certainly in action films like the Bond series) have the time and facilities to describe the character's inner feelings.

I liked the way Timothy Dalton approached the role, but I thought Pierce Brosnan was brilliant.

Apparently he was offered the role when Roger Moore called it a day, but was still under contract for Remmington Steele.

Can't really comment on Daniel Craig as I haven't watched any of his outings as Bond - deliberately. I'm afraid, to me, he looks more like a Bond Villain

Roger moore for me,

Hated hated hated Daniel Craig and casino royal, the Craig movies have got better with each film but he is nowhere near the best bond, and wouldn't say he is a particularly good actor

As for the next bond bit of a left field shout but I think Daniel Radcliffe wouldn't be too bad bring back a bit of the sillyness you had with more
