depression isnt nice you have to go though it to understand how other people feel and i feel for you it turns your life inside out, hope you get better soon and your sex life becomes real sexy again, you will get there in the end

I can say from experience that yes it can have a very varied affect on your sex drive and so can the medication aswell but it will return to normal again as your condition changes.

For me, lack of sex drive is the first indicator that I'm getting depressed.

I generally have a happy demeanour, useful with autistic kids, so the happy me stays put, it's only when I realise I'm not interested in sex that it becomes apparent that the black mind fog is descending.

My dad was chronically depressed, but used sex as an out for his feelings, like some people will self medicate with drugs or alcohol, he would use to control the pain, but this lead to him having an extraordinary amount of children, and he once told me that his biggest regret in life was that he couldn't be there all the time for all of his children.

Now both myself and my sister bothe recognised this same trait in ourselves, and have endeavored to fix it, the depression is under control, and we are both aware of when the black dog is coming, and sort out our coping strategy, before its too late.

And we both reduce how active we are on fab (I've blocked her on here, I don't want to see all that) just in case

I've suffered from depression since my wife died a few years ago. People think depression is all sadness and crying and dressing in black. People are wrong.

Depression for me is a constant feeling of being numb; being numb to emotions and too numb to lie about it. I wake up some mornings just so I can go to bed again later; days aren't really days sometimes, they're just annoying obstacles to be faced and avoided.

When you're depressed you grab in and hold on tight to anything that can get you through the day. That's what depression is, not the sadness and the tears; for me it's the overwhelming sense of numbness and the desire or something, anything, which can help you make it from one day to the next.

Today is a good day. Tomorrow may not be, and if it's not then the very last thing on my mind will be my sex drive.

Cougar Pray above has nailed the subtle aspects spot on- not up and down just numbness.

I've done things off fab that should be mind blowing but they were just ticks in a box-

However one meet once turned my black and white world into full colour UHD 4k for a few days and made me see what was missing.

I have it and my drive is messed up, it can change from hour to hour, I can almost be wanting a gangbang one minute to just needing hugs the next, it really messes with my head a lot, other times I want sex but just can't cum then am left frustrated and that can become annoyance if I'm not careful so then I get put off wanting more because I might not be able to but then I think I won't if I don't try..... it can drive me nuts at times

I suffer with Depression, Im diagnosed with Dythymia, meaning Emotionally Unstable.....My 16yr old and my 9yr old have both been diagnosed with the same condition too......it sucks, hugely and impacts all our lives greatly.....its a big struggle to be nice to each other as well as others....so I tend to keep myself a little isolated from people......So YES this impacts and affects my Sex Life ( what sex life) a great deal....If I'm down, then no one gets near me....If I'm happy then I will gladly go ahead with a social of some kind....if I'm so so....then I tend to go with the flow as to where my mood swings.....Its such a horrid thing to have and wish I could just snap out of it...sadly not the case....xxx
