Never let strangers who can only be brave behind a keyboard hurt you. You're out here, being who you are and bravely sharing it, and the personal challenges you face which shows real strength.

Some people put up threads to deliberately provoke controversy with very little thought for the actual real consequences of their "sport".

Stay sparkling, you fabulous diamond.

Booby hugs and Snogaroos in your general direction.

Stay strong! I have a friend that's gone all the way and transgendered and is now the woman that she always wanted to be.

It was a long hard path for her and prejudice and bigotry were everywhere. But she got there

You have to focus on the positives rather than the negatives. As far as I can see 99% of the people (on the thread I assume you're referring to) spoke positively about transgender issues.

What would the % have been 20 years ago? Ten years ago? Even 5?

We've come a long way as a society, especially in the last 5 years. Even I have personally with my attitudes and opinions on the subject.

We'll all get there eventually, and sooner rather than later

*Some* people's _iews - and hopefully a minority at that. Of course you have feelings, why on earth wouldn't you and there's just no need for unnecessary spite or criticism about who you are. It's beyond me why *some* people feel the need to be so unfeeling and insensitive about matters that don't personally affect them at all ... I mean, judge a transgender person (or anyone) on how responsibly they drive, or how considerate they are towards others by all means ... but, how an individual feels about the person/gender they identify as shouldn't be up for public debate when no-one else can possibly see inside your head or experience your feelings. That probably doesn't make much sense and I might not have phrased it very well but I wanted to respond. Please try not to let ignorant narrow mindedness drag you down. x

Try not to let them get you down. I know that it can feel like death by a thousand paper cuts. Alas, some people are just dicks.

My wife saw the thread and was in tears from it. Our son is trans and has gone thorough a lot of shit (and unrelated health issues too, he lost his sight a few years back). He is doing really well now and in a strong place. Hopefully you will be too in due course.

How some people can be so wantonly abusive is beyond me. At least it was only one (couple) and hopefully you could see the level of support and understanding from the other 99% of the people who replied.

Hugs.

I feel your pain...

I noticed a post a few days ago - please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the OP post on the thread too.

In said thread a TS referred to people such as myself as "the skid marks of the community" because they have hairy legs.

My reason for not shaving is because of the nature of my career and the sports I partake in.

I found that post very hurtfull and the old "I must just be a weirdo" thoughts have been returning when I previously felt very accepted.

Everyone has different circumstances, why can't we just live and let live

That thread was one person intentionally trying to provoke. The other 175 posts were other people incensed by the attitude shown. That excludes posts that were pulled by the mods for being to strong in the condemnation.

I didn't see it and I'm glad I didn't.

You have a good heart right?

If you can answer yes to that, which I'm sure you can, you will find there are people who can make comments that hurt REGARDLESS of the reason for their comment.

Whether it be age, gender, orientation, weight, height, anything and everything.

It's only when you're happy with you...in your heart, that you'll pity these people, one day you'll even wonder why you let them mess with your mojo.

It's taken me a while to get to that stage....because I care.

It's better to care and have a knock now and then than be a dick!

much love and good karma.

feel for you op my only advice would be try and feel sorry for those who act badly towards you after all how bad must there own miserable lives be to attack another human being for being different .

you often find that those who lash out are often very sad individuals with sad lives themselves and that sadness manifests its self in nastiness towards others especially others that are different and there fore a easy target for there frustration .

Put 1000 brown head matches in a box with 1 red head match and everyone will see the 1 red head. Any thing that stands out fom the crowd our brain is programmed to notice.

What we do after noticing is about civilisation and education. One of the problems transgendered people have is the pantomime dame type comedy which has badly educated people to laugh at and pick on "men in frocks". Though weirdly the principle boy does not get the equal treatment in this country for women in pants?

If you don't want to be noticed go with the herd, but that is not good, be yourself, and expect to get noticed, which means sometimes dealing with idiots.

If you're a fully grown adult and words still hurt, my suggestion would be: strengthen your character so that the words no longer affect you, as opposed to trying to make all the nasty unpleasant things in life go away. I thought that this safe space culture was only for spoilt millennials.

This is life. People will attack you, set-backs will happen, nasty things will be said... It isn't all cuddles and rainbows and people telling you you're awesome and never will be... for anybody.

It honestly astounds me how some people have survived all the years leading up to the current point in their lives, being so weak and naive.

I read a lot of your posts and think you just need a big hug. You'd probably thump me for trying, and that just makes me want to hug you more.

Being sensitive is a good thing. Once you put up a wall (because that's what it is) I think you lose a part of yourself and lose a part of empathy.

The most empathic people I know are also get hurt the most easily.

So fuck 'em that think you should change. Choose empathy. Choose life.

I know it can really hurt like fuck OP, but it's the with the problem, not you. Big hugs.

Many of them don't. That is the point. Something like 40% of trans people attempt suicide at some point.

The fact that this weekend is Trans Day of Remembrance to remember those trans people that have been KILLED due to anti-transgender violence.

Does't that not say something to you?

I'm not even going to respond to the 'weak and naive' comment.

People of every sexual orientation, race, age and gender attempt (and commit) suicide, down to a number of reasons - painful break ups, money worries, custody battles, work related stress, etc.

Right now in Syria, people are being killed for being Christian. People in 90's Bosnia were killed for being Muslim. People in WW2 were killed for being Jews/Gypseys/Slavs. Hundreds of thousands of white, heterosexual men have been killed on the battlefield.

Do you not see how your "offended" response reiterates my initial point? People die, people get depressed, people will hurt you, THAT'S LIFE. Those who accept that fact and find the strength to endure it will fare better than those who start bitching and whining every time they're called a name.

You can respond with "OMG, that's offensive, you troll!" retorts all you like, it just shows that you are completely out of touch with the world around you.

"I'm so frustrated with people's _iews on what transgender is it's so frustrating but the worst thing is we have feelings and constantly getting beaten down from something we can't control really upset now"

Try not to be upset about others _iews, chances are that these people will never be close to your heart so what they think is irrelevant to your life

It honestly astounds me how some people have survived all the years leading up to the current point in their lives, being so weak and naive.

OK, I know you are a troll from your other posts so far, but I think this point does actually need responding to:

Many of them don't. That is the point. Something like 40% of trans people attempt suicide at some point.

The fact that this weekend is Trans Day of Remembrance to remember those trans people that have been KILLED due to anti-transgender violence.

Does't that not say something to you?

I'm not even going to respond to the 'weak and naive' comment.

Let's break this down.

1) I am not offended. I am merely pointing out that your have demonstrated that you post to elicit a response from people, not to contribute to a conversation. That is the definition of a troll.

2) By your reasoning above, the people of Syria, Bosnia, WW2, etc are 'weak and naive'? And maybe if they had a bit of a thicker skin that they wouldn't get killed? I respectfully disagree.

3) The rate of suicide within transgender people is an order of magnitude higher than the average population. Yes, many other minority groups have increased levels of suicide rates. That does not make them weak or naive either.

4) Yes, there is some pretty shitty stuff out there in the world. In your words 'That's life'. In my mind that doesn't give someone legitimate reason to further be a dick to fellow human beings.

5) "Those who accept that fact and find the strength to endure it will fare better than those who start bitching and whining every time they're called a name." -- and what about those who can't endure it? What about those for whom deal with being insulted and shamed day in and day out for being themselves? What about for those whom that last insult is the final straw that breaks the camels back? Be that trans, fat, gay, disabled, whatever?
