I don't think any amount of money can compensate for what he's been through.....

As you say, OP, no compensation will make up for what's happened to him but he wasn't executed.

This is precisely the reason there should NOT be a death penalty - every now and then the system gets it wrong.

The U.S.A prison system is huge business. They have many prisoners on death row remaining on hold for many years. They are worth a lot to the system. They're held amongst other inmates that haven't even been convicted of a crime. There's even a fleet of prison transport aircraft and buses that move prisoners around to keep population figures up. Although there are plenty of folk serving time deservedly (I only know because of a friend that spent time inside there and is virtually an activist now)

Nah. It's just because BBC has rehashed the story.

It is not an easy story. He ended up on death row because, while in prison, he thought he might be let out if he grassed someone up for murder. He picked a bloke he knew who he thought was dead. Turned out he wasn't and the suspicion turned back on him instead.

Strangely, he doesn't seem to regret the time he spent inside. States that he benefited from it.

Funny old world.
